Although an exact implementation date has not yet been determined, disneyworld.com is working to introduce new functionality that will allow guests, travel agents, and Cast Members to book many types of dining reservations online. This technology is currently still in development, but plans include the ability to:
Book table service restaurants, including locations that require a deposit or prepayment
Book dinner shows that require prepayment
Some modifications of existing dining reservations will also be possible:
Changes to guest information (primary guest cannot be changed)
Changes to the party mix, as long as there are no payment implications
Changes to seating time within the same meal period (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
Addition of or changes to special dietary needs notations
Modifications that require payment changes will not be supported online
It will also be possible to cancel reservations if:
No payment has been applied
Payment has been applied but the cancellation will not result in cancellation fees
A credit card guarantee has been applied but the cancellation will not result in cancellation fees
This enhancement to the Disney dining reservation process will have significant benefits for our guests, and our Cast.
It will:
Allow first-time guests to perform their own research and get answers to questions while booking their reservations
Free DRC agents to handle more sales-intensive calls that will benefit from their product knowledge and sales expertise
Minimize the overflow of dining calls into other DRC communities
Reduce the number of modification and confirmation calls that we receive
Help alleviate the additional call volume associated with our peak booking season
Align with current online resort booking functionality to offer more complete internet vacation planning services for our guests
Conclusion
While a go-live date for all of this exciting new functionality hasnt been announced yet, we wanted to give you a sneak peak today to keep you informed and help you to speak knowledgably with your guests. Theyre likely to ask about these changes long before they become a reality, and now you will have more insight in preparation to answer any questions that guests may have.
