I didn't post this last week. Not because I didn't want all your prayers and pd, but I just forgot with all that is going on.

If you don't remember, my nephew Adam was born two years ago with a faulty tricuspid valve. He had emergency open-heart surgery days after he was born, and another when he was about 6 months. The doctors plan to make his heart operate on just one half of the organ. He had his final surgery last Friday (7/11/03) to put in a Fontaine Shunt. That surgery completed the task, and he is now operating on 1/2 of his heart.

This miracle is amazing. They expected the surgery to last 5 hours, it lasted 3. My sister called me Friday evening, and was so excited. She said, for the first time in his life, his fingernails and nose were pink, not blue. He was not puffy and his cheeks were not bright red. He was eating by Saturday night.

Yesterday they removed the rest of the tubes from his heart, and they took him for a walk around the hospital. He went up to a playroom and played for hours. My BIL told me he woke up at 4:30 yesterday morning, and was still going strong at 5 in the afternoon, no nap. This is a two year old. He has so much energy, he just doesn't know how to handle it. Before this surgery he could play for 1/2 an hour and then he sat down and rested for an hour or so. Now he just isn't tired.

It's amazing what modern medicine can do.

So, praise to God for the miracle that has happened, and thank you to all of you for your prayers.

He may come home from the hospital today!!!

Kelli, I am so glad to hear the good news!!! Modern medicine can really produce miraculous results. Best wishes to Adam and his family :)

Oh that is fantastic!!! :sunny:

You and Adam's parents et al must hardly be able to stop smiling! :)

I am so happy for Adam! I have a neice who is 16 that has had 2 heart surgeries. He's lucky to have you for an auntie.
{HUGS} to him and you!

Thats fantastic news:sunny:

Its so sad when kids are sick.

Thankfully, there is so much help for heart defects. My DN was born with one 8yrs ago. She had her first surgery at about 1 mo. She too was blue, and what a difference almost immediatly after the surgery. She had her second surgery in April of 02. They put in an umbrella, had to open her twice though, didnt work right the first time. We were actually in WDW at that time and DBIL didnt want to call us to worry us!!!! We did eventually get a call, at that point she was doing fine. They avoided our call until she was ok!!

The parents go through SO MUCH stress, they usually need extra prayers.

TC, thank you for sharing that miracle today. I needed something positive! And thank God for the miracle. What a true blessing.

Here's more great news. Adam is now home, coloring at the kitchen table with his big brother, Taylor. My sister just called. There's still a little oozing by his tubes scars, but other than that, he is doing fantastic. She is so relieved to have him home.

Thanks for all the good thoughts. I told me sis to take a look when she had time. She'll really love reading all the great things you all are saying.
