Update on my Mom ~ Updated 5/8

Well, she is still in the hospital, and we have no idea when she will be going home. They have found that she has an enlarged spleen , high liver enzyme count, and something with her pancreas too. They also said something about her bile duct being constricted, she has already had her gall bladder removed years ago. On top of all that, she is also have severe back pain, and the medication is still not helping that. They gave her a morphine patch that should have lasted a long time (72 hrs is what my Dad said, but that seems high) and it only lasted 3 hours! She is in tears when the medication is not working, and can not function at all. We really hate the hospital she is at, my Dad had to litterally corner a doctor on Wednesday to finally get some answers! I am scared that there is more going on that the doctors are just blind to, it took them until Tuesday to even acknowlage that my Mom is hurting in her back too.

On top of all this, my Dad's health seems to be going downhill. He suffers from severe sleep disorders, and is going to have to go on disability due to that. I know he has some other health concerns going on, they just don't tell me or my sisters. When I saw him at work the other night, it just hit me hard how bad he really is. I am sure that the stress of my Mom's health is impacting his own health.

I wish there was something I could do , but they won't take any help. I am not even to call my Mom, because she hurts so bad and does not want to talk. I saw her last Sunday, and will go see her again this Sunday. Thank you all for your prayers, they really mean a lot to me.

p.s. Dan you had asked if they live in the area, yes they do, lived in Orland Hills for almost 25 yaers now.

Wow, I am really sorry to hear that I was wondering if they had found anything out yet. I can imagine how frustrating it is not to have something for the pain

Sorry to hear this going on, Kirsten, not improving as you said. And then your dad too. Not sure if I can be of any help, but am in the area as you know. Continued good wishes and both of them, and you guys too, are in my prayers.

***UPDATE***

Well, she is out of the hospital now. My Mom is going to stay at my Grandparents for a little while, as that way she does not have to take care of the dogs. Still no idea as to what has caused all of this. Her #'s are down, so they are glad with that. Her back is still a real problem, are suspecting a deep muscle tear, but can't find it on the tests. Thank you all so much for your support. It is wonderful to have a place to come and posts my worries.
