Update on my dad

As I have previously posted, my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer a couple of months ago. He had surgery on Wednesday, and part of the upper left lobe of his lung was removed. They believe that they got all of the cancer. My dad is doing pretty well. He never needed a respirator, which is a good thing. They had him up and walking less than 24 hours after the surgery. He's still in ICU, but hopefully he'll be moved to a regular room in a day or two.

Karen, I haven't been on line much, so hadn't read about your Dad. Isn't it amazing, him walking withing 24 hours of surgery!! Good for him!

I just read your post for the first time. Aren't these boards a wonderful thing?! I am really happy your dad made it through surgery okay. My father had the same surgery in 1979 when he was 46. Medicine has come a long way in 24 years, its amazing that your dad is up and around so quickly.

My prayers are with your father for a speedy recovery and the rest of your family.

I will continue my prayers for your father. I'm so glad that he tolerated the surgery well. I hope he is kept painfree and that they got all of the cancer.

Now the really hard part begins. I will keep him in my prayers while he undergoes chemo and/or radiation.

I'm glad your dad is doing so well, Karen! I pray his recuperation is quick and complete. My dad had the same surgery in 1989. I was amazed to see him sitting up in bed eating the next day!
