UPDATE on MP3 players ordered from Newport News website

Hey gang,

Just thought you'd all want to know that those of you who placed orders for the $5.00 MP3 players will not be getting them.

I had ordered 3 of them, and rush ordered them so I'd have mine for a trip I am going on. When it didn't arrive by today, I checked the order status online, and it said "Cancelled. This item is no longer available." So....I decided to call Newport News. I got 2 different answers - the first operator told me that the manufacturer would not be shipping them due the typo on their website.

So I asked if I was ever going to be notified about this, since nobody emailed me about that. She put me through to Customer Service and THAT agent told me that the manufacturer was no longer making the item, so it wouldn't be shipped.

Either way, they know they screwed up and won't be honoring the orders.

I already had one and didn't order them.....but was interested in the quality just the same.........

That's really weird since I received an email that said: EXPECTED TO SHIP BY 02/12/2004. I was a little surprised by the late shipping but, for $5/piece, who cares.

I also received a confirmation email stating that mine would be shipping in Feb. a few hours after ordering. But.. if you use the order number from your confirmation email, and check your order status... you will see that they have cancelled all orders. (without sending further notice about the cancellation, or why)

I also got the email about shipping on 2/12/04. Just checked my order status and it is cancelled.
