Update on Minky

I finally had to break down and take Minky to the vet today. He is limping on his rt front leg and left back leg. Poor thing can hardly get to a stand on my hardwoods. He took a hard fall about 5 days ago while chasing a squirrel--slammed hard into my treehouse. Turns out, his shoulder and both hips are swollen and bruised. He's already dealing with severe arthritis in his back & hips,and a torn ACL in that back left knee. No wonder he's been nippy with me this week!

The vet is putting him on a stronger dose of Tramadol, plus a muscle relaxant. So, Minky is a bit stoned now. Just as well. He is forbidden to run or do *anything* other than eat and sleep. I had to lift him into the SUV, he couldn't get himself up in there. So I guess I need to start looking for a ramp in earnest. I hate my puppy is getting old...

Awwww...poor little guy. Hope he recovers fast so he can get back to squirrel chasing!!!

Well, he wasn't supposed to be chasing that darn squirrel in the first place! He's too old and decrepit for knee surgery so we've been trying to baby that torn ACL. When he hit the treehouse, he couldn't even get up for about 2 minutes. And even then he just stood there watching that squirrel hop away. He looked so disappointed, like he was remembering... He was the Terror of the Squirrel Neighborhood, in his day.
