Update on MCO (Orlando Airport)

I just wanted to update everyone on the status of Orlando Airport. My husband found out that the airport has suffered MAJOR damage. One jetway was broken in half. Part of the roof has been torn off the terminal, and the fire alarm system is not working. Because of the hole in the roof, there was flooding inside the terminal.

The optimistic estimate is for the airport to open on Tuesday.

Wow, this is the first I've heard of any damage at MCO! Hopefully nobody was injured!

Is it closed to all traffic till Tuesday, or whenever it opens, or is it operating on a partial?

I think they are routing some of the planes into Tampa International instead. I just got back from taking my son and my ex husband to catch a flight and it was a zoo!

I thought it had reopened at 4:00 pm. this afternoon? According to the Orlando Sentinel links flights are boarding and arriving....

Except Southwest which cancelled everyting until tomorrow morning at 6:35.

At this point, Reed isn't sure if it is going to be the entire airport, or just the terminal that houses Southwest, JetBlue and Spirit.

He is in BWI (Baltimore/Washington) right now and said he saw that Delta is flying in there. Could be that their terminal didn't sustain much, if any, damage.

I just called Jet Blue to confirm out flight out tomorrow at 12:55pm and they said they are flying in and out of MCO as of today with no delays!!
