Morning all.

Can anyone out there give an update on the hotels in the Cape Canaveral area? We're on the 10/9 Western and are planning to spend a couple nights at the Hampton Inn prior. If I need to make other plans I'd like to do it before leaving. Thanks for the help.

Kathy

Hilton is closed until mid-October. Double Tree is closed indefinitely. Hampton looks to be taking reservations. I would call the hotel directly. They can provide the best information on the area.

We are planning on staying at the Hampton Inn also. A few days after frances I checked their web site and it said min. damage and still open.

Have a great time!!!!!!:wave2:

We just returned from the 9/12 Wonder sailing. We stayed at the Hampton Inn on 9/11. The pool was closed. It appeared to have a lot of sand in it. Other than that the hotel was in perfect shape. The beach was lovely!

We stayed at the Radisson at the Port on 9/10. They had just reopened and were in great shape. There were folks in the pool, the restaurant was open and service was good. As a matter of fact the FEMA team was staying there too. And there was a local high school reunion still going on there that weekend too.

I had called the Radisson's 800 number earlier in the week and was told that while they were not taking new ressies they hoped to be open by the 10th. I made a just in case ressie near the airport in case the port or the Radisson weren't open.
I called the Radisson when we got to Florida and they assured me that they were up and running so I was able to cancel the 'just in case ressie'.
We drove around the area on Friday afternoon and some of the hotels looked closed and damaged. A few had Yes we are open signs, but the Radisson looked the best.
::yes::

Ron Jon is closed until maybe 10/3. They keep changing the date and cancelled our ressies last week for 10/1.

Ron Jon cancelled on us as well for this weekend. Made a ressie at the Radisson and 2 hours later the website was stating that the Radisson was full! If you are considering I would make a reservation now even if you need to cancel! There is a 48 hour cancelation policy.

4 more days.....................and we are off

This past week we stayed at La Quinta at Cocoa Beach ( 10 minutes down the beach) and it was packed! Because of telephone crew, line men, cable men, coming from out of state to help Florida with all the of the repair work the hotels are maxed out. There were still a lof of hotels that were not open yet in Cocoa Beach. Word of advice dont drive down without a reservation or you will be sleeping in your car.

I sent a few emails out last night. Here is a summary of the replies I received.

<table border=0><tr valign=top><td align=right>Fully open:</td><td><nl><li>Radisson<li>Holiday Inn Express<li>Days Inn<li>Best Western Resort<li>Comfort Inn & Suites<li>Quality Suites<li>Hampton Inn<li>Indian River House</nl>
</td></tr><tr valign=top><td align=right>Closed for repairs:</td><td><nl><li>Doubletree (estimated reopen November 1)<li>Resort on Cocoa Beach (estimated reopen October 30)<li>Holiday Inn Oceanfront (estimated reopen mid-October)</nl></td></tr></table>

The other properties I either haven't contacted yet or I haven't received a reply yet.

I got two more replies today.

The Courtyard by Marriott is fully open.

The Ron Jon Cape Caribe Resort is partially open. Some units suffered water damage but resort amenities are fine. All existing rental reservations cancelled through October 2. New rental reservations not being accepted until November 1.

I wonder if it's safe to assume that our ressies at Ron Jon for Nov 19 and 20 are OK. Maybe I should get a back-up just in case.

Thanks, Dave, for taking the time to get that information.:D I really appreciate it as our hotel is on the fully open list.

Just to add to what Dave said about Ron Jons, I called this morning about my 10/29 reservation and they said they would not take any more add-on reservations (which my MIL wanted to do) or any other types of reservations until at least October 13th. They were very evasive when I asked if they would be open for my 10/29 stay. They would only say I would get a call if I wasn't able to keep the reservation. Didn't make me feel very confident
