I posted at the begining of the summer and asked some questions regarding ADHD and I wanted to provide an update to all of you who provided some good information.
At this point we have reached a point we have completed the evaluation process and have started medication (Concerta) and behavior modification. The mediciation has been a tremendous help in getting him to focus and calm down. We are now able to discuss his behavior with him and work together to come up with better ways to handle different situations instead of acting out.
School is going very well, his teacher can't believe the improvements since last year. Now that he is better able to focus and control his implusiveness, he has been moved to accelerated math, and by the end of 1st grade he will be done with 2nd grade math. He has also moved from a reading level 6 at the end of last year to a level 18.
Overall he is a much happier little boy. While we still have our issues, they are more what you would expect from a little boy and we can work with him to improve and correct his behavior.
