Update on DH 12/08

Well the tests came back positive for C-Diff. So he needs to continue on with the meds and we need to watch for recurrence. He has dropped a lot of weight, and he was super skinny to begin with.
Now I need to fatten him up a bit and make sure he's eating right.

It is a really unpleasant infection that is hard to kill.

basically you have good bacteria and bad bacteria in your colon, well the antibiotic that DH was on killed the good bacteria so the bad stuff ran rampant in his insides. It is very hard to get rid of but thankfully DH knew the signs because his mom had it once, it's not hereditary though. So anyway, he stopped taking the meds early and called our DR. They gave him charcoal and a probiotic to help reverse the effects, if that doesn't work then they give you Flagyl which is a different kind of antibiotic.
The thing we have to watch for now is recurrence, now he is susceptible to it again.
What scared me the most was a lady on 2peas almost lost her husband to C-Diff. He was in the hospital for months, almost died a few times, had multiple surgeries, etc. It was a very scary time for her and I remember describing the the symptoms to DH and he said it sounded like C-Diff, which it turned out to be.

We have some pretty scary things living in our bodies. Gives me the creeps!
