I never know how to change the title of a thread I started to say Update, so sorry guys, I started a new thread.

Yesterday they sent home sealed notes with all of the kids who auditioned for the play. 150 kids did NOT get any part at all. 70 kids got a part.

My DD9 got the part as................Dorothy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Although she does have to share it with another girl. There are 180 lines and they thought it would be better to have the part broken up. So, we have no idea what part of the show she will be Dorothy we will find out tomorrow. She is sooooo excited!!!
Although she was a little nervous going to school because 6 kids in her class tried out and we already heard 1 didnt get a part. So she said she felt bad that she got a good part and some got nothing.

Thanks for your advice for the auditions!!

Congrats to her! I was a munchkin in a high school production when I was a kid. They gave all the participants a brick painted yellow with the date of the play on it. I still had mine up until a few years ago. I think we lost it in a move. :/ It was a blast!

Oh I am so happy you updated and that it went well:goodvibes
Congratulations to your daughter and I hope she truly enjoys the show.

Congrats to your daughter. I was a munchkin, one of three who sang the lollipop song. Fun memories! :)

First of all, congrats to your DD! How exciting for her!

Second, remind her that while it may feel bad to have something that someone else wanted, that's unfortunately how show business works (yes, even in grade school years). She was not in charge of casting, so really she shouldn't feel bad because she did her best and got the part she (and others) wanted.

It sounds like a total of 220 kids auditioned, and I can't imagine having given every single one of those kids a part, background or otherwise! It'll be hard enough for the director(s) to work with 70 children, much less adding that many more. Oh the headaches!

Congrats!

The Wizard of Oz was my senior year musical. I LOVED it. Good Luck to her! :)

That's great! We had a few friend's kids try out for the same play last weekend...see you are in PA...wonder if it is the same little play house? We just saw Bye Bye birdie at the same play house the kids were trying out and it was wonderful! Can't wait to go see Oz when it is showing!

Congratulations to your DD! I think being in plays/musicals is a great experience for young kids!

congrats to your daughter. I got to be a flying monkey in our Wizard of Oz play in 3rd grade.

OP,Is this school or DW? Thinking you are in York too.... Got to find out if Zack got in.

This is for school! Her school building is just 2nd and 3rd graders, 12 classes of each, so that is where the high numbers came from!

Thanks for all the well wishes!

She said at school she felt funny but I am sure she will not feel as guilty soon! We should find out tonight what part of the show she is doing!

Congratulations to your DD! Wizard of Oz is my favorite movie ever. My DDs 8th grade is doing the musical Annie in April and she has been cast as Annie! I'm new to theater/musicals also, so this will be a new experience for us too.
