Update on Costco Deluxe AP + $50 gift card

It's so great that they are online, and so funny, b/c so many people were told that they would NOT be sold online.

Alas I see shipping costs. So if you're just one person buying one AP you really might look at the $30 off offer that ends this month.

Along with not being able to get to a so ca costco, I couldn't make the math work, and anyone who has read AP posts by me knows that I have a Masters in Disney Math. Since that $50 gc couldn't be applied to the AP, I just could not get my brain to think of it as a $219 AP, and I couldn't get my brain to know to use the GC on normal things, not extra things. Because if I used it for extra, than I'm still paying 269 AND buying things I wouldn't have bought, and there's no savings.

So the 239 AP worked muuuuuch better for me.

But I'm still glad they are online (shipping costs and all), for those who CAN get the Disney Math to work for their brains.

Yes, all passes are upgradeable. You can use these and them upgrade to premiums, you would get the full $269 value towards the upgrade. AND then if you wanted to you could probably use the $50 gift card towards the upgrade too.......

I just copied the link and sent it to DBF, his Mom is buying us all AP's for our Christmas gift this year......yes, I already had 2, I'm passing them on to my BFF who is paying me for them. So now my psuedo-mil can get us these instead of the ones for $30 off, if she so choses...

Courtney, they are good until 5-31-09 so even if you got them now you could wait and activate them in May. When in May do yours expire? If I get down there for a May trip you need to come see me....since I don't think you'll be able to make it in Jan. I'm so sad about that.

BUT OMG, I am sooooooooooo excited that his parents are getting these for us!!!!!! And even more excited that my BFF wanted the vouchers I already got. That was the neatest thing ever because now I'm up $478 more than I was when I originally planned our Jan. trip. Not that I'm going to use it all for DL but it's nice to have it!!!

Oh man...we will gone by the 10th!! We just can't stay longer either. That's such a bummer, originally I wanted to be there the 7th-11th but changed it so we could see the holiday decorations.....oh man!!
My birthday is the end of May....I'm just going to tell you every time we go, that way you will just meet up with us one time.....

Bumbershoot, can you explain why you felt the costco ticket is not a better value than the disney deluxe offer? Is it because you didn't think you would put the GC to good use i.e. eating in the parks, buying souveniers, drinks, etc? IS it because you thought you would end up using on stuff you don't need? I am currently in a tizzy over what to do myself. It's almost as much for a 5 day PH as to just get the deluxe deal. We're not guaranteed to be able to come back again, but it would be nice to have the option. help! I gotta figure this out...

Yes, I would have ended up using the GC for extra, so it wouldn't have saved me money. I would have spent the 269 for each AP, then spent "regular" money for regular stuff, then gone crazy with 3 $50 GCs.

So I preferred to spend $30 less out of pocket, rather than have the GCs.

But the main issue was that I couldn't get to a so cal Costco, and they weren't online when we needed them.


And it turns out, any discount we got on the APs is likely gone for hubby and son, as hubby's lanyard pouch was ripped off right before the loop on Screamin', and they didn't find the pouch (with their APs in it) that night when they walked the track, so we'll likely have to pay the $20 each to replace those anyway, next time we go back.

Then again, it's better than spending 269 and having to pay $40 more! At least they are still 10 dollars "up" each, LOL.
