I posted last night how my son, who has a stomach bug to begin with, got bleach in his eye yesterday. My grandma was trying to clean a toy he'd thrown up on and dropped the bleach by accident. And it went into his eye. He was a mess for quite awhile yesterday but we called the number on the bottle and followed their directions.

So this morning I go to get him up and his eye is pretty much swollen shut, he can open it about a crack. He seems in good spirits but he looks so pitiful. So I called the doctor to get an appointment and it was advised I take him right to the ER because an optomologist has to look at his eye. So I'm waiting for the phone call back from them as to which of the 2 local ER's that are set up for children...

Wish us luck, the nurse scared me...she said he might not even be able to see out of the eye right now!

Oh my goodness. I sure hope he is going to be o.k.

:grouphug: How scared you must be. I hope they can see your son quickly.

please keep us posted.

OMG! Please let us know how you make out at the ER with your DS!

Hope all goes well for your little guy there, Melissa. Looking forward to a good update later on.

My son injured his cornea a couple times. It was very swollen and very painful (they gave him codeine), and the doctor's visit was no fun, but it healed. Hopefully, it's just that. P&PD.

:grouphug: Hope all goes well. For some piece of mind - the eye is our fastest healing body part!

my son works in a seafood market during the summer. He got a bad blast of bleach in his eyes this summer. It looked terrible. They flushed his eyes alot at work, not much improvement. They took him to the er where they flushed it some more. After a couple of hours alot of the swelling had gone down. He had some discomfort the following day. He was fine though and there was no permenant damage.

Prayers and :tink: from MD!!
Bless his heart, I hope everything goes well at your dr appt.

Poor Gma, trying her best to help out, I can imagine how she must feel.

I'm so sorry about your DS and I hope everything goes ok at the ER.

However, I read your original post and stopped in my tracks when you talked about your DD with the cough who was diagnosed with Tourette's link tic.

My DD had a tic last summer (excessive eye blinking). We did a lot of research on it and discovered it could be what's called Panda Syndrome. It's caused by strep bacteria and manifests itself in various tics. We took her to the doctor and while she didn't have a positive rapid step test (they're not 100% accurate) our doctor agreed to try to course of antibiotics. They worked, her tic went away and it hasn't reappeared.

Here's a link on Tourette's Syndrome (PANDA is mentioned about 1/2 way the page): http://www.drgreene.com/21_1211.html

Good luck with everything.

oh....the poor little guy! I hope he's been looked at by now. Keeping good thoughts that his eye is OK!
