**UPDATE**National policy on return of car late??

I have a question. I think I know the answer but wanted to be sure.

I have a rental from Sun 9:30a to Sun 9:30a for a grand total of $111 for a Full size so I don't want to mess with this rate!

My return flight is at 11:25a. I didn't want to return the car much earlier than 9:30a. I'd love to pick up the car, though, at 7:00 - 7:30 but that would then make my car have a late return of about 2 hours. What will they charge me? An hourly rate for 2 hours?

Anyone know National's policy on this? I tried their website and couldn't find the answer.

**UPDATE**

I just spoke with National and they were able to change my reservation pick up from 9:30a to 7:30a and my drop off from 9:30a to 8:29a with NO CHANGE to my rate...actually it went down from $111.16 to $110.21!! Life is good!

They give you a 59 minute grace period. Then they start with the hourly until it gets to the daily rate. Then they will charge you the daily.
You might try calling them, they were wonderful about changing my times for me, and it did not cause my rate to change.

That is a FANTASTIC rate and all mine has done is go up, up, up.
Glad I booked when I did.

I just got off the phone when you replied!!

He said I would be charged the hourly rate. I said "how much would that be?" "Does it change or do you know it?" He asked for my confirmation number. He said "it would be $10 for the first hour I'm late and then I would be charged for another day".

I couldn't believe it was only $10! So tHen I looked at my original reservation and it says hourly rate is $10.08 and the daily rate was $20.15!! So I guess I'm worried for nothing. That's not that much money really!

Do you think I could call them and change the pick up time to 7:30a and still drop it off at 9:30a and they won't change my rate? I really don't want to mess with that rate over this!

Glad to hear that, the rate dropped that itty bitty amount cause they changed their license recoup fee from .49 to .42 per day.

I told you the grace period was 59 minutes and that they are pretty darn nice about changing times, nobody listens to me, sob, sob. ;(

Oh but I do listen and that's why I called and I got the times changed with no rate increase!

You know how if you make any changes to the website, your rate could skyrocket? Well, I was afraid it would happen over the phone too. Or that I'd be charged the current rate plus a day if I made any changes to the times. Now I know better.

I'm so happy! Now we'll get to MK 2 hours earlier that day!

I have been playing around with the site recently and playing with my reservation and when I change stuff, it still stays the same. Maybe they fixed that nasty "bug".
