Hi!
I am doing great! My short-term contract that was supposed to be 2 months long turned into 7 months onsite. It was really hard at first and I complained to my husband because I had a difficult time trying to manage dinner and the kids' schedule but he was SO terrific and was truly a great help with the kids (but he always is). the commute was long and costly with tolls/gas. We managed those 7 months with DH being able to leave his office early and finish the rest of his day at home so he could be here when the kids got off the bus.
Since that was a short term solution with his employer, I told my boss that I wasn't going to be able work full-time anymore after the new year and she let me work from 7-2 onsite. Enough time to put in 35 hours/week. Summer came along and I was going to pare down completely to be home for the kids as the project was basically at a lull and it just wouldn't be worth it for me to pay for sitter/daycare. My boss then asked if I could just work part time from home for 20 hours a week!
It has truly been a Godsend. It is like I prayed and prayed for 2 years every night for something like this to happen and God answered my prayers. My boss is amazing. I could not have been blessed more.
I know it is difficult out there. Alot of the interviews I went on, I think I literally sabotaged myself because I wasn't ready. After we got home from last year's summer trip, I made the commitment mentally and decided to surprise my husband. Just keep plugging away and when you go to your interview, feel like there is NOTHING for you to lose by telling them how great you are and what YOU can do for THEM. No one is going to brag for you. Be the solution that they need. That's basically it. Go for it!
Good luck! What kind of work do you do?
