Update.......Just had a scarey moment------thought I might have to cancel my trip

Dr. says to let this episode heal....we'll do the MRI if my leg continues to be weak or if I have another flare up like the one this weekend...( Oh, to get old....)

Although Dr. Thinks it's a ruptured disk as long as I can get around with out to much discomfort we'll hold off on having another back surgery. ----I'm liking how he's thinking.

I might go another year with no problem--or I might have a flare up within a day or so.......

Guess I should have waited until I saw the MD to post anything ---but I was starting to feel sorry for myself and I was worried I wouldn't get to go to Dis-con.

Well for now looks like I'll be at Dis-con.-----I even put in my request for the 2:00 Tea time ----Not TEE TIME---the other Tea.

After all my planning...getting tickets....making reservations....doing this an then changing it to be doing that....Then the biggie---- I had to go to the emergency room early Sat. morning. Looks like another ruptured disk in the ole---back-- a--- roo. I took enough meds to stop a horse....so as such I'm feeling pretty good right now. I called my surgeon who is out for 2 weeks----Oh, why me......Well the good news.....with enough meds I'm staring to think I'll be OK.

Here is my plan:

MRI---this week
See surgeon---two weeks from now---So the trickey part is scheduleing everthing-----I need enough time to heal before WDW. I'm thinking 3 to 4 weeks should be enough. I'll rent an EVC if I need to-----I have been looking forward to this for so long--it would break my heart to have to stay home. I know there is always next year----but I planned for this year.

Well wish me luck---I see the family MD in alittle over half an hour from now-----.

Just goes to show--even with all the planning--you need to prepare for the unexpected.

Good luck, Patty! As one who has been sorta "disabled" in Disney World and Disneyland last year, make sure to follow your doctor's advice. If you have to rent an ECV, ain't no big deal. Ray Sharpton will have one and Tammy is always on wheels. Hope you get to feeling better soon!!

I ruptured my disk at L4-5 when I was 16. No surgery so far and just celebrated my 35th. There is hope you can hold off surgery.

Poopie---I had back surgery last year----When the rupture happened it blew little peices of bone fragment all over the place. Dr. thought he had gotten them all---but now it looks like maybe not. It is a wait and see game. I'd put off your surgery as long as possible. Even with the surgery the Dr. said I have a bad back and that all he did was take what was causing the pain away. I wish I was young again---I would have listened to the older generation when they said-----lift with your legs!!!!!!
