My wife has been to the one in Princeton, NJ. But just one time. I remember that when she came home she absolutely was thrilled with the place. And we have one that is supposed to open near us. All I really remember is that she said they had a phenomonal food court and that the place was HUGE?

Is it comparable to other stores? Whole Foods? Fresh Fields? I don't know anything about these stores, really.

I used to live near the one near Princeton. A whole foods opened nearby. I preferred Wegmans. It seemed to have a greater variety of unique items. Wegmans had a great variety of cheese, fish, and prepared entrees. Wegmans was slightly more expensive than ShopRite or Giant and the latter stores seemed to have a greater variety of brands for some items (such as cold cuts). I miss having Wegmans in the area.

My nephew used to work at the Lionville Wegman (at least I think it was the Lionville one--either that or its called the Downington Exton store) He really enjoyed it there .

My Sil enjoyed shopping there. I never made it to the store, but she described it as a very nice store and I equated it to the now defunct Zagara's chain in NJ. It also sounded like Heinen's in the Cleveland area if you are familiar with that chain.

Apparently its very fresh, clean and favorable environment. I read an industry article somewhere that they have supervised babysitting in the stores in a similiar format as IKEA. My kids are too big for ballpits and babysitting but thats a great idea if you can do that. Hey, I remember many a tantrum in a grocery store.

They are putting a Wegmans in S. Jersey. I want to try it out as well. As I understand it, the prices are a bit higher than your usual grocery store. I would imagine that some portions of the Wegmans would be as nice as the Devon Fresh Fields and the Wayne Trader Joes.

My nephew loved working there. He was a cashier I think. He is a college student so of course it didn't really work with his schedule.

We have a Wegmans near us. That's where we shop. Its a huge store that carry's everything. Clean, organized and did I say huge. You can get everything from dinner to gifts. In the summer they even have beautiful patio sets you can buy, as well as dishes, glasswear and almost everything else you need. You can even get some gifts there. The ready to eat food is delicious, everything from heroes, to chinese food, to pizza to fresh sushi. They have a section where you can get a salad made to order as well as yummy foods from the deli and hot section. There always stocked with the newest groceries out. We love going there. Even my dh likes to go and he's not a shopper.

I live near the Princeton Wegmans, and there is now a Whole Foods just before it. Personally I really like Wegmans for regular shopping, but Whole Foods is better. Whole Foods has better prepared foods and it's meat is fresher.

I absolutely love Wegmans. It is more of a "shopping experience" than your typical grocery store. When we lived for a short time in PA, Wegmans is what I missed the most! (aside from family of course)

I can walk to a Genuardi's food store and yet we go to Wegmans. I really don't think they are that expensive. I have compared prices at Genuardi's, Redners and Wegmans. There were somethings that Wegmans was cheapest! My son most days loves to shop with me there. On the days that he does not, he will go to Club W, their kids club. People often joke with me that if I can not be found at Walt Disney World, then for sure I can be found at Wegmans! :)

I shop at Wegman's the store is very clean and has a lot of specialty items. Since I don't have any young children I don't use the kids club but my sister loves it for her kids and they love going. Wish I had a Whole Foods closer I prefer their prepared foods and meats over Wegman's. Wegman's is 100 times better than Shop Rite and I don't think their regular grocery items prices are higher. The prepared and specialty items are about the same as Whole Foods.

Wahhhhh..... I miss my Wegmans too...... (lived in Williamsport, PA)

THeir trucks drive right through here on their way to VA stores...I've already tried to call them and get them to consider our town (their a new shopping center going in not to far from us). Gotta put a bug in the developers ear too...

Some of the things we usually buy are cheaper at wegmans......

I love their breads/meats/ deli their subs (hogies, whatever) at the store are to die for..... Their produce is really good too.

DVCFamily,

I think we are neighbors. I know where that Genuardi's is in Langhorne. Flowers Mill, right? I'm wondering where the Wegman's is that you go to?

Where are they suppose to open one around Valley Forge? I would LOVE to know... it might be my new hangout!!! I was at the one near Coatesville and was amazed.

I love Wegmans! We shopped there when we lived near Syracuse, and were lost without it when we moved to New Jersey. Then they opened the Princeton and Bridgewater stores and life was good again.

Then I moved to Florida. Publix is nice and clean and has a lot, but they lack the produce variety and many of the gourmet items that Wegman's carries. I have to go to Fresh Market for those. Neither has the quantity/quality of prepared foods like Wegmans.

I wrote to Wegmans and asked them to open a store down here, for now they aren't set up for appropriate distribution. But as they keep movign south, maybe someday :)

Ok first of all, Wegmans is not a supermarket, but a grocery store :rotfl:

The best place in the world!! Dh makes fun of me for going to Wegmans so often. I was born and raised in the birthplace of Wegmans and can you tell you there is nothing like it. Best food, best prices. There is nothing you can't find at Wegmans. We finally got one down here in VA. Everyones asks, but it isnt a gourmet store? Nope, but is beautiful. They have everything from chinese food, to sushi to pizza/wings, soup. Beautiful deli, fresh meats and fish. The stores down here have awesome wine departments. Gourmet cheese and a florist. PLUS all of your regulars. While all the other stores down here sell milk for $3 something, we buy it at Wegmans for $2.19!! Wegmans is just awesome.

OK, not announced, even on the Wegman site, but supposedly it is going to be in the shopping center in Oaks with the Lowes and Target and the movie theater. I met the owner of the land / property. ( he also owns the land where my Dunkin Donuts is located ). We talked a few times about business and he said talks were in discussion to create a shopping area like Main Street @ Exton... and it "might" include a Wegman's if everything can be worked out.

So maybe I overstated..... wishful thinking, I guess! :teeth: But fingers crossed!

PD - THey're opening one right down the street from me in Warrington too!

Yes that is the Genuardi's! :) We go to the Wegmans in Princeton by Quakerbridge Mall. Its maybe 15 minutes away. The one in Warrington I think would be much further for us when you factor in the traffic. I am thinking we will check it out though! :)

.

So what is the difference? Unless they call it Wegman's Grocery. They sell food and other stuff right? In my area we tend to say supermarket generically. To each their own, I guess, unless they call themselve's a "gocery" store.

:rotfl: I never say grocery store or supermarket. I say "foodstore". LOL!

I hope so!!!! That shopping center needs stores anyway (as well as a few restaurants... JMO). That Exton center is very nice looking and would be great for that Oaks location.
