Listed my very first item on eBay this morning! 'Course I made a big goof (forgot to allow for the time difference) so now my auction will end in the middle of the night on the west coast - but at least I finally did it!!!!

I could kick myself now because it wasn't nearly as hard as I talked myself into believing it would be.. Matter of fact, it was downright simple.. LOL

Oh - and for those who are still "thinking" about selling on eBay and have been procrastinating forever like me - just do it!! It really IS simple!!

My dh has been saying forever that he is going to sell some things on ebay. I wish he would just go ahead and do it, he sure buys enough stuff from there! :D

Good luck with your sales. We are hoping to go in December too!

Thanks for the encouragement!!! It was just what I needed. I've had the same fears that you had. Did you do any research (like on the Disboards) about how to get started and tips on selling or did you just jump in and follow the directions from ebay. I've been putting off trying to sell bc. I've not had the time to "read up" on how to do ebay. But if it's not necessary I could start sooner. Did you do paypal? That's another thing I'm not sure about. Any opinions about that?
Friday I was at a library clearance book sale. They had like-new hardcover novels at 3/$1.00!!! I bought a bunch (from the better known authors) thinking that I could sell them on ebay for a profit. My husband just bought over 200 handmade fishing rigs for $1 each and he says he knows he could get $2.50 each for them. Do these sound like ebay money makers? The whole motivation for me, too, is to put the $$ towards Disney.
I'm so glad I read your post. I'm happy to know that I'm not the only one "chicken" about doing things that others do every day.:)

I love it. I just sold two books for a good price--books that I normally would have just given to the library. $20 more in the Disney jar!

Sure beats a yardsale doesn't it! ;)

I've not had the luck with books, due to the weight. I did use media mail too. But deducting the ebay/paypal fees I did better at my garage sale I got $1.50 for my hardbacks and sold all but 2. I think a lot depends on what type of book. I just had best seller novels.

I have three bids on my first item now and just listed another last night!!! This is SOOOOO much fun! You should try it.. ;)

For those who might be in Orlando at the end of June e-Bay is having a convention. Here is the link:

http://pages.ebay.com/ebaylive/?ssPageName=MOPS5:eBayLive

They will be having workshops for buyers and sellers. From what I've heard about last years convention it is a blast to be at!

There are also many promo codes out there for 2 for 1 registration. Also, for those with children there will be childcare onsite ($5 hr)

LMK if you have any questions!
