I am very sorry to hear of your loss. I hope to be reunited with my deceased loved ones after my own death, and I hope you, too, will be reunited with loved ones you have lost, such as your partner.
This is what I would ask Disney to do, too -- put all your points from this reservation into your 2008 use year without the holding account restriction. If they aren't willing to do this, ask if they will at least return the 2008 points to the 2008 use year, preferably with no holding account restriction. Making a reservation with your points during your 2007 use year and renting the reservation here (when you are within 30 days of check-in) might be your best option if Disney won't be flexible, but given the tragic circumstances, I'd expect them to bend the rules for you....Ideally, they would not put the points in "holding," allow you to bank the 07 UY points (after your banking deadline) and return your 08 UY poitns to to the 08 UY.
Best of luck -- Suzanne
I own a bunch of timeshares, so I've given some thought to this. It will depend on the type of deed you have, and rules do vary from state to state. Does your deed say "joint owners with right of survivorship"? If so, you will probably automatically get full ownership, without worrying about probate or a will. (I'm not a lawyer, though, so take this with a grain of salt!) A timeshare closing company or any Florida title/closing company could probably advise you on this; I've used http://www.timesharetransfer.com in the past and have been happy with them.....Also, both of our names are on the contracts as purchasers. Has anyone here had to deal with what happens when one of the purchasers on the contract passes away?....
