Update AKL construction

Has anyone recently stayed at AKL? How is the construction going?

I stayed from 9/13-9/25 and the short of it is:

Inside construction is still going on but we never heard a sound of it and we were at the lodge at all times of the day.

Outside construction- If you are staying on the side of the construction(I think its the Sunset Savannah but I am not 100% sure I have the name of the right savannah), the noise is pretty noticeable and the view is UGLY!
I would request,very nicely, a view without the construction.

It is hard to tell how advance they are on the outside construction because all I could see were the cranes and construction vehicles.

We aren't going til the end of December. Since our cruise is sold out, I am sure AKL will probably be the same. Here is hoping for some pixie dust.

Don't give up hope! All you need is one cancellation. Cancellations happen all the time. As the inside construction winds down rooms will open up. Call alot if you have to. I am sending you pixie dust!

Thanks for the PD. We are already reserved there. I was just hoping for a good view. It is only because of the package that I would stay deluxe. We don't spend a lot of time in the resort, so normally I would not spend that kind of money on the room. So while WDW is not a once in a lifetime experience staying at AKL is.

We stayed there 9/19-9/24. We heard and saw the outside construction every single day. It was very loud and very annoying.

We stayed at AKL 9/1-9/8. The only time we heard or saw constriction was when we walked to the car to go to the parks. We were in Zebra trail and never heard or saw construction. Even at the pool, no construction was heard. Don't worry!!!!!! you will have a great time. The resort is wonderful .

Has anyone that's been there very recently been moved to a different property due to construction? The agent I spoke with yesterday is insisting this is the case and won't sell this property due to this.

This is why I am avoiding AKL until Kidani Village is complete. I saw pictures from a poster who stayed on the Sunset Savanna side and you could see the orange construction fencing. I would be soooo upset if I paid for a savanna view and got a construction view. I am sorry, but AKL has got to be a mess while Kidani Village is being built.

OP, if you absolutely have your heart set on AKL, I would pay for a pool view room. I would pray that this would be far enough away from the construction, but up until my trip I would worry that they upgraded me to a savanna view room and that IMHO is an upgrade you wouldn't want until after 2009!
