PLEASE SEE MY FINAL POST ON THIS THREAD....

I booked a 2BR at the BWV for May. I asked the CM if I could change it to a 1BR if my friends decided not to come. She told me that as long as it was 31 days prior, I could. I just spoke to a fellow DVCer in my neighborhood who told me that I would have to go on a wait list for the 1BR if they were booked, meaning that the next people on the waitlist would get the room or rooms. Does anyone know how this works? Thanks....

My understanding is that you can only change to a one bedroom from a two bedroom if there is a one bedroom available at the time you want to make the change. The CM probably thought you were asking about your points - for example, would they go into the holding account or be forfeited if you had to change your reservation at a later time.

I think you should call MS back and tell them exactly what you want to do (ask if it makes any difference if there is a waitlist for a studio, 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom) and then see what they say. It's just my opinion, but I don't think it is fair to book a two bedroom and then later change it to a studio or one bedroom if there are people on the waitlist.

I would double-check the situation. I thought they had made a change to prevent the unfairness CarolMN mentions. Some people seemed to be booking 2 bedrooms to extend the time they could decide what size room they would really need.

BUMP.....does anyone else have any official info on this. I looked through the new Member Guide book, but didn't see anything. Thanks.

The problem may be that you have reserved a 2BR and not a 1BR and a Studio. I have reserved a 1BR for a week and added an adjoining studio for a few nights when we had guests coming. We didn't have to move and the transition was quite simple, but I have never cancelled a reservation like that.

I have requested such an arrangement at HH and was NOT allowed to even make the ressie as a 1BR and lock-off studio--only as a 2BR.

You will likely need to clarify with MS again to verify what you may need to do, as regardless what advice you get from this board or your neighbor, MS will have the final say. You can even ask by email so you'll have a written response to your question.

Good Luck!

The policy could have changed but in the past if you booked a lockoff specifically, you could downgrade without losing your existing reservation, even if there was a waiting list. I know for certain I've done this in the past. That's one of the reasons I like to do things by email, so I have a record. If you just book a 2 BR, you'd have to clear the waiting list to rebook the 1 BR.

It's my understanding that all of the 2 bedroom units at BWV are lockoffs.

The best advice anyone can give you is to contact MS and specifically ask what the policy is. IMHO, sending an email to get a written response is the way to go.

I was told by a CM that there are no "pure" 2BR at the BWV. When a 2BR is booked you are really getting a 1BR and Studio. As long as you are within the time frame you may drop one portion. This does not apply to all of the resorts, just those built w/o formal 2 BR units. Since that time I have booked 2BR in 2000 and 2001 and both times I changed to a 1BR approx 60 days before my arrival. Both time periods were fully booked otherwise and member services responded that they were thrilled to be able to offer the studios. I communicated with MS via email on both occassions. Good luck, you shouldn't have a problem.

I'm happy to report, and I quote..."The rumors are wrong. As long as your two bedroom is a lock-off, you can droop off either the studio or the one bedroom." I received this e-mail from MS today!:bounce: :bounce: :D
