We last left off with Lumar and I finishing our fantastic meal at Rose & Crown.
When we finished eating, we went over to the back of the UK pavilion where they have some benches set up. There was no one there so we sat for a few minutes so I could make some notes on the TR. We briefly thought about going back to Future World to ride Soarin’, but decided that since we would be in Epcot two more times on this trip, we would just do it first thing on another day. I have pictures of Lumar in MouseGear, though, so even though I didn’t write it down, we must have gone back there at some point….
So we're continuing our trek around World Showcase….
This was our first PP pic for this trip, taken on the bridge in front of France:
At the recommendation of many DISers, I decided to stop in France for an orange Grand Marnier Slushie….
It was not my favorite. When I got it, I didn’t realize there was vodka in it…and I REALLY don’t like Vodka….or Tequila for that matter. “I like rum….rum’s good.” (10 points if you know where that quote is from!)
Our next stop after France was Japan. Lumar and I usually spend a ton of money in Mitsukoshi but we actually walked out after 20 minutes of browsing with NOTHING! I didn’t even buy any pearls!
Next, we stopped into American Adventure to see the show. We managed to get there in time to see Voices of Liberty as well. I love their performances!
After the show, I think it was around 5pm or so, we continued into Italy where I had my first official ice cream of our trip: A beautiful, wonderful, marvelous, fantastical chocolate gelato:
As we entered Norway, the sign for Maelstrom said it was 20 minutes. I figured that would give me enough time to finish my gelato. Well, I practically inhaled it anyway, and it’s a good thing because we actually only waited about 10 minutes.
Lumar conned me into taking this picture:
And he got away with this one:
Around 6pm, we made our way to Mexico. Our ADR for San Angel wasn’t until 7:15pm, but we really like taking our time and browsing at the marketplaces in this pavilion. We rode El Gran Fiesta Tour (and the Three Caballeros song has been stuck in our heads on and off ever since), and did a tiny bit of shopping. I found a pink, white, and gray blanket I wanted and a pair of earrings that I loved, so I picked those up, and I took some pics:
We checked in for our ADR at 7pm and we were seated right within 5 minutes. We had a PERFECT table! All the way against the railing, right on the water for the boat ride!
Of course, we got chips and salsa just for sitting down:
Lumar ordered a Dos Equis, and I just had water:
For my meal, I actually ordered off the appetizer menu, I had the Tostadas de Jaiba (crab on a tostada chip) which were phenomenal.
Lumar ordered the Sirloin con Chili Relleno (Sirloin steak served on a stuffed poblano chili pepper (stuffed with beans and cheese), and served over rice – although we don’t remember what kind of rice it was.)
Lumar really enjoyed it, and just nearly cleaned the plate.
Of course, we can’t leave Mexico without getting Lumar some flan:
And I had my 2nd official ice cream: Vanilla w/ caramel sauce.
After dinner, we meander back over to Norway to get a spot for Illuminations which is my favorite fireworks show next to Hallowishes. A friend of mine let me borrow her monopod, but I, of course, left it in the back seat of the car. So I did the best I could without any support for my camera:
Now, what would a day at the Food & Wine Festival be without a Drunk Story!?
It was EMH this night, but Lumar and I were exhausted so we decide to head out. However, we walked clockwise all the way around WS instead of just exiting right by Mexico, hoping that this would help us to avoid the crowds waiting for buses.
We get all the way over to the UK, and Lumar says he has to run in to use the restroom. I’m standing on the corner of the sidewalk where the main sidewalk meets the sidewalk leading into the restrooms (the fountain in the pavilion is to my left, about 15 feet away). I’m leaning against a short post that holds the chain perimeter fence, which runs all the way around the main UK building.
All of the sudden, someone bashes into my right shoulder from behind me. I turn around, fully prepared and intent to give them a really dirty look, but the person (who after a few seconds I determine is a female) is now in front of me RUNNING past me. She gets about 2 steps by me and projectile vomits all over the sidewalk. At that point in time, there was literally NO ONE there except for me and her. She just keeps running towards the restroom and I’m stuck standing there, looking at this…..abomination. I won't describe it to you, but let's just say that this girl had more Wine than Food at today's Festival.
So I see a CM walking up the street in front of Rose & Crown. I run over and apologize that he happens to be the one walking by, but explain what happened. He just says “oh no problem! Thanks for letting me know!” and goes right over to clean it up. I talked to him for a minute and discovered that apparently, this is a frequent occurrence.
Gross.
So Lumar and I finally head out and are pleasantly surprised to find that there are only a few other people waiting for a CSR bus. After what we went through at Pop last year, and watching a video on YouTube of some guest strangling a WDW bus driver earlier this summer, we were really relieved!
Up next: Our first day at DHS and another meltdown.
