Is anyone concerned about this heavy cold front that is supposedly coming in the week of the 10th? I know it is going to be much colder than normal, but my husband also seems to think there is a chance for ice and winter weather that could impact us being able to travel. We are supposed to fly in on the 11th. I know that's still 2 weeks out so no one knows for sure, but is anyone watching this? I'm pretty concerned now because there isn't really another time we can easily reschedule this trip to..

Are you worried about Winter Weather for Ice and snow at MCO? Or are you concerned during your flight plans on your way to MCO?

I've seen that Orlando may be dipping below freezing but I think it highly unlikely that it would get cold enough long enough to do anything in Orlando of substance. The record snowfall for Orlando from a little research happened in 1977 and it was .05 inches. That's dust.

Again, if you're worried about during your journey, then yes it's possible. Where are you coming in from?

We’ve been at Disney when it was in the low 30’s for a couple of days and it was business as usual. Everything except pools and water parks were open.2 days later it was in the 70’s. Layers are your friend this time of year.

Also, so much can change weather wise before your trip. I’m sure you’ll have a great time even if it’s cooler.

We’re coming from Nashville and I’m not terribly worried about the flight personally because the weather would have moved on from our area by then. I guess DH is worried about extreme low temps and wind in Orlando. He also apparently thinks there’s going to be heavy rain? I’m not entirely sure where he’s seeing all this because I haven’t but he’s sort of a weather nerd and he follows a lot of weather people.

This is from the Weather Channel. Looks to be fine. Obviously 2 weeks out, but not that bad looking at all.

We’re watching this too because DD is running the Marathon on the 12th, and we’re staying over for park time through Thursday. We’ve been at WDW when weather was similar to this, and as PP says, pack layers! The wind combined with humidity can make it feel chillier. But icy roads or walkways are highly unlikely.

We were there a few weeks ago. One day the high was 62 and my DH is always cold. I had bought hot hand along with the hats, gloves, etc . I happen to see rechargeable hand warmers on amazon AFTER we got back. Got them for him for Christmas.

Maybe something like that would help. And one thing I learned from Covid era, those cloth face masks do keep your face warm.

concerned is probably too strong a word for me..... I'll be there, and am I annoyed that the weather is going to be colder than I want? yeah, but I'll deal with it, the weather is what it is and I'm packing for it.

I am also super bummed about the weather for next week. Will attractions be closed? I am mostly thinking about Animal Kingdom. Will animals be out or put inside? With lows in the 30s and highs only at around 50 ( that’s what I am seeing for Thursday.) Any positives like lower crowds? Maybe local people will opt out of going when it’s so cold? I am planning on full on winter gear and then renting a locker later in the day if it does warm up.

I don't think most attractions will close unless there is rain. And a lot of them are indoors anyway so those won't be affected at all.

I actually don't know about the animals. I guess it's no different than when there's a zoo in a city that gets cold (and there are a lot of those).

I'm a bit of a weather nerd myself. So I checked the forecast - something I'm sure your husband is doing.

The week of the 12th Nashville is projected to be in the upper 30's to the upper 40's with lows in the 20's
The week of the 12th Orlando is projected to be in the upper 60's to the low 70's with lows in the 40's - no rain

I'm not entirely sure where he's getting this idea there is going to be extreme low temps, wind and heavy rain, either. It's going to be much warmer in Disney World than back home in Nashville.

Honestly he said he is basing this off of people he follows and the fact that the cold front we are getting next week will be over Orlando the week we are there. Truthfully, I have no idea where he's getting this and I do hope he's wrong and what you posted is right.

Either way, we made the decision today that we are going anyway. Time to bundle up.

This actually looks pretty good compared to some January and February trips we have had in the past. I remember one trip I layered multiple pairs of socks, leggings under jeans, t-shirt/long sleeve shirt/two sweatshirts, jacket and gloves. cold and rainy. Just kept peeling clothes off as the day went on and it got slightly warmer. We still had fun, but it is definitely not my favorite time of year to go to the parks!

Hope you have a wonderful trip! DH did a solo trip last year about this time....we're also in mid-TN, and it was the week that we got almost 8 inches of snow. DH did push back his trip by a day, so he could fly out before the snow hit. We were snowed in at the house. I wish I'd just gone with him, haha! He did say it was colder than expected in Orlando, and wished he'd packed an extra couple layers.
Just checked a few sites for forecasts for around Jan 11th, here in TN, does look like lows in the 20s, possibly precipitation, but that totally might not happen at all. So often they're wrong with rain/snow forecasts around here.
Have a great trip!! it's such a great time to visit WDW. Crowds should be so low, and cooler weather is way better than sweltering!

Actually it does not look like much if any rain and mostly sunny so it could be way worse. Have a great trip everyone!

It's really difficult to predict FL weather so far out. It changes all the time. If your husband wants to watch the forecast, I would look at WESH weather rather than the Weather Channel. WESH is based in Orlando, and I think do a more accurate forecast.

There are a lot of people in the runDisney section who are concerned about the cold for Marathon Weekend, but it still seems a bit early, we're keeping a very close eye and predicted lows started inching up recently.

Anyway, general advice is be prepared for anything (within reason) and pack layers.

I believe many of the animals on the safari are given the choice whether to go out or stay in. Some years ago we were there when the temps were in the 40s, I think, and the giraffes were out but all clustered around the entrance to their house. I’m planning to book safari for the afternoon, not the morning, when we're there!

I booked the trek for the afternoon later in the week and will just wait and see. I may cancel if it gets colder. I did the trek almost 10 years ago and loved it! I remember sitting on the Savannah and having lunch and it was fabulous. I wonder if they have patio heaters for colder days?
