Kid will be 9 an the stroller we have (had three years ago) is just used for stuff now.

We know he wont want a stroller an we wouldn't try make him stay in one but it will be the first year with out one.
We are thinking about getting the bus passes from hojo to Disneyland. ya its only 8min walk but it might be worth it especially late at night an with him.

I know they don't allow any wagons. but does disney land allow those. Backpacks on wheels?
(we know ppl who use them on bus rides in the city an saves a lot of pain on there backs.)

We've stayed at HoJo several times, my DS *now 10* has been visiting DLR since he was 6 ~ he has never used a stroller at DLR. Our most recent stay at HoJo was this past Nov. he had no complaints about the walk.

I'm not sure about wheeled backpacks.

No, Disney doesn't allow wheeled objects that are pulled behind you because it's a tripping hazard.

Even though walking to hojo is short, I don't think it is worth buying ART tickets if you are staying at hojo. If you do the ART bus, there are three more bus stops on the route and the waiting at the bus stops can take more than the 8 minutes of walking from the gate to hojo. Mostly the ART system only have one or two buses for the routes. That is my opinion of the ART bus route with hojo. I thought about doing it when I stayed at hojo, but with a short walk and don't have to wait at the bus stop, I don't have to buy tickets for the ART bus.

Just as skiingfast said, there is no wheeled objects that are pulled behind the person. I have seen people have wheeled backpacks and used them on the streets of the DLR, than the CMs ask them to fold it up and put it on their shoulders. With a lot of poeple in the park, someone can get hurt by tripping on a rolling backpack.

We went last November and stayed at the HOJO. We opted to use ART a few of those days because the temps were in the upper 90s and 100s!!! It was just too hot (and long) of a walk after being in a hot park all day long. We were always able to catch a bus quickly that time of year, and didn't mind making a couple of stops (in an air-conditioned bus) along the way. It wasn't about the length of the walk, but more about the heat of the walk! To me, once we got there and were experiencing the all-day walking and the heat, the ART to HOJO wasn't as bad an option as some had made it out to be. I know the little kids we had with us (6, 7 and 9) appreciated not having to hoof it at the end of the day. But that's just my opinion!

Wow ~ I'm guessing that was early Nov. - we visited Thanksgiving weekend and the temps were quite mild. That's also warmer than when we there over the 4th of July weekend.

well knowing our bad legs an knees it may just be a better choice for us. But to bad bout the backpack guess we have to look for a good back pack that can be on back.
still have the back pack cooler got that's disney one its so nice

Jade ~ all the walking you'll do in the parks will be much more than walking to any of the "within walking distance" hotels around DLR :goodvibes

Perhaps all 3 of you could carry a backpack, spread out the stuff a bit :thumbsup2

Yes! It was 102 on Wednesday, November 3. In the mid to high 90s the other days that week. Not my idea of fun, but somehow a less crowded park makes hot days like that more bearable.

Does your son have any special physical challenges? My daughter is 8, and I think she would be completely mortified if I even suggested she sit in a stroller. When we went last year, the kids were 5 and 7 and never needed a stroller. I think that if he can handle walking all day, a few more minutes at the end of the day won't be a big deal at all.

As far as carrying stuff, my husband and I each wore a backback with food, water, etc. in it and it was no big deal. I would just try to pack fairly lightly so you aren't weighted down by a huge backpack in the park each day.

no he dont have any special physical chalanges. we kept him in the strler last time for many reasons this time tho he will be to old i know that. He is smaller tho an he could get lost. Tho he also holds our hands an knows not to go off with strangers or run from us He is very good about that.
