up to when is spring break in 2007

we are planning a vacation and would like to avoid spring break. can anyone tell me up to when is spring break in 2007?

If you want to avoid spring break totally, then you will need to not travel from roughly the last week in February through the middle of April. The heaviest concentration of spring breaks is probably the second and third week of March and then the week before and after Easter.

According to that site, factoring in that Easter is in April this year, crowds should be good beginning on 25 Feb and through the first week of Mar, after that, they're pretty bad.

spring break goes from the middle of Feb - starts President week to the middle of May - however the worst is definitely March and April. there are only a few schools that have off in May.

This thread is mixing up winter and spring breaks. Many school systems (particularly back east) do both. Or put differently, I don't know of a single school system anywhere that labels a February President's day vacation week (a very busy period at WDW) as "spring break". That's the winter break.

Bottom line: spring break timetables vary and often change often depending when Easter falls in a given year. But if one has to generalize, they don't start earlier than mid March and are pretty much over by the third week in April.

In terms of WDW planning, this boils down to looking at when Easter falls and assuming a "curve," ergo crowd levels starting to grow two weeks in front of that date, topping out at Easter and then slowly dropping for a few weeks after the holiday - unless it falls very early (ergo, late March - in which case the curve starts right before Easter) or late (third week in April, in which it tops out about two weeks before the holiday).

College spring breaks tend to be earlier than grade school and high school spring breaks. In my hometown the public schools always have spring break the first week of April. Although only 5.5 years separate the oldest from the youngest of my 4 kids, when we had 2 in public middle school, one in parochial high school, and one in college the spring breaks ranged over a month or more. Needless to say, the family spring break trips came to a screeching halt. Regardless what you call it, a lot of kids are out of school from early March through mid-April, and the parks will be busy.

This generalization doesn't apply to all school systems (again, there is major regional variation). The system I went through growing up back east had a winter vacation in February and a spring vacation around Easter - and even back then (long before PC forced systems to stop referring to most holidays using religious terms) it was labeled the spring, not Easter break. And the April break my kids get now (which may or may not fall near Easter) is also called the spring vacation week.

FYI, NYC schools will be getting off 2/19-2/23/07 for "Midwinter Recess" and 4/2-4/10/07 for "Spring Recess."

disney peak time is Feb 15 thur April 14 - you will pay also top price and there will be crowds. (but you can avoid them)

Crowd sizes during that "peak' period are not flat, they ebb and flow significantly by week. As example, President's day week in February is a nightmare, but early March can be pretty good. So yes, it does matter!!!

you are right it does vary somewhat. but spring break is generally more crowded than summer.

the only time more crowded is Easter and palm weeks plus Christmas to NY.

easter and palm weeks are included in spring break - although next year they aren't in March thank goodness - March is crowded enough without Easter.

if you have a schedule that says Feb is ONLY winter break - show it. from what I have seem it can be both winter break for some schools, spring break for other schools. there are 50 states in the US. every school system can be different.

Sounds like a couple of schools need to go back and find out when spring begins. University of Michigan in February, uh, not what any rational person would think of as spring! And I notice that school district has their spring conference in the latter half of April, so SOMEONE knows when spring is.

BeachBlanket is right, the point is that there are a couple of weeks in early March that are much less crowded than President's Day week and the latter half of March and early April. I think that was the point of the OP's question, not who doesn't know when spring begins!
