Up, down and all around...a trip we will NEVER forget - COMPLETE 1/19

I'm so sorry you all got sick. Yuck! I have a weak stomach when it comes to food. I'm always thankful when I go through a vacation without getting sick. It is so miserable to feel that way!

Wilderness Lodge looks so wonderful. I can't wait to stay there some day! We have only been there to eat at Artist Point. We had a great meal there.

We ended up being a little late to TSM the same day you went. It tooks us a long time to get our annual passes. We ended up getting FPs for 11:30 though. It was such a fun ride—all games!

I had to pop out of lurkdom to offer some sympathy. We were another family of barfers on our vacation (thankfully not in public though) Isn't it awful to be sick on vacation? Sounds like you recovered well!

The pictures are gorgeous. I wish I would have thought to take as many "atmosphere" shots as you did!

Brook - I am thoroughly enjoying your TR! So sorry the tummy bug hit you all. But you are right, it does make for a memorable vacation.

Both of our DDs have had their ills while visiting WDW. We often talk of trips as "Remember, that is the trip where Kristin dislocated her elbow and she and Mom had to take the ambulance to Sandlake Hospital?" or "Oh, yeah! That was the trip where Kathrin almost passed out in the line to Body Wars and they called the rescue squad to check her out and then took us back to CBR in a van?"

Hope your Thanksgiving is wonderful and I look forward to your next installment! :goodvibes

When I last left you, we had just scored our TSM FP’s.

We headed back to the front of the park, stopped at Guest Relations and got a Guest Assistance Card (GAC). This little gem allowed Joe (and party) to be able to sit near the front in all shows, so he would be able to enjoy them. Next we got our Photopass Pictures done. Including a “magic” one with Minnie and one with Stitch! I was very excited about these!

We slowly walked up Hollywood Blvd and Joe took a bunch of pictures, we already saw some skits in progress.

IMG_1957Small.jpg

This guy pulled up right behind the couple and started explaining that they had NO idea where they were going and a map wouldn't help! It was funny.

IMG_1959Small.jpg

We love the art deco look

IMG_1961Small.jpg

IMG_1964Small.jpg

We watched a skit for a few minutes while I reviewed the Times, and saw the Playhouse Disney show was about to start, so that is where we headed.

IMG_1966Small.jpg

IMG_1968Small.jpg

IMG_1969Small.jpg

Clap your hands

IMG_1974Small.jpg

Doesn't that CM look sooooo entertained?!

IMG_1978Small.jpg

IMG_1982Small.jpg

Bubbles!

Henry really enjoyed this!

IMG_1994Small.jpg

I love Playhouse Disney!

And we did too. The one thing, I think the stage is much too high considering you are sitting on the floor. I’m guessing they have to have it that high for the puppeteers underneath?

After the show Henry fell asleep

IMG_2044Small.jpg

Cute sleeping baby. I love his Gonzo shirt.

and Joe and I wandered the Streets of America. We gazed at the Osborne lights and wished we would be able to see them on. I bet that is just incredible!

IMG_2003Small.jpg

IMG_2005Small.jpg

It seemed to me all the lights were up, now why did they have to wait so long to turn them on??

IMG_2012Small.jpg

IMG_2033Small.jpg

The pic didnt work quite the way we wanted it to...

We naturally spent some time in NYC.

IMG_2009Small.jpg

IMG_2015Small.jpg

There is a pizza place in the West Village that I used to frequent that looks almost exactly like this

IMG_2018Small.jpg

I miss you NYC!

We saw the Power Rangers pull in, that was kinda cool and there was a little boy dressed as the Red Power Ranger behind us doing the kicks right along with them. It was cute.

IMG_2020Small.jpg

I finally found the Mary Poppins umbrella, but it wasn’t working. :guilty:

IMG_2031Small.jpg

IMG_2032Small.jpg

Maybe if I jump on it, it will work?

Continued in next post

Continued from previous post.

We wandered a bit more and saw Tow Mater and Lightening McQueen. I kinda wanted to get my picture with them, but the line stretched pretty far and Joe was not in the mood to wait.

IMG_2039Small.jpg

I love these guys!

Soon it was time for our lunch at 50’s.

IMG_2045Small.jpg

I was really looking forward to this meal, I wished our stomachs were doing better. We still hadn’t eaten anything that day, just drank water, and we weren’t necessarily hungry even….but we weren’t gonna miss this ADR either! I was hoping some food might help settle things and get us back to normal.

We walked in and just loved the place! The décor is so much fun! As usual, the attention to detail that Disney has gone to is incredible. We enjoyed waiting in a little living room area after we checked-in.

IMG_2047Small.jpg

IMG_2050Small.jpg

IMG_2053Small.jpg

Did people actually find these pretty? Or was it cool in that "tacky cool" kind of way?

Our name was soon called and we were led to what had to have been one of the best tables in the place.

IMG_2055Small.jpg

It was right in the first area, and we had our own TV! It didn’t look like many of the tables got their own TV, so we felt pretty special. Joe was pumped because then he could actually enjoy it, if it would have been across the room he couldn’t have watched the kitschy show fragments.

IMG_2063Small.jpg

IMG_2065Small.jpg

IMG_2066Small.jpg

A really poor picture of the rad boomerang table.

At this point Henry was still sleeping, so they had removed a chair so his stroller could be moved right in at the table. We figured he would wake up any second at the smell of food though…..and we were right. As soon as we got the stroller situated, he woke up, ready to eat! Joe took the stroller out and a high chair took it’s spot.

Our waitress came and took our drink orders. We both got waters and Sprites in hopes to settle our stomachs. When the drinks came, she threw down the straws and gave the basket of silverware and napkins to Joe and told him to set the table. He didn’t give out the spoons and she teased him a bit about that.

We got our menus and I already knew what I wanted, POT ROAST BABY! Yum, yum! I thought Joe was going to go for the meatloaf, but to my surprise, he got the pot roast as well!

IMG_2068Small.jpg

Despite our stomachs, it was very, very good. Joe ate a good portion of his, I ate maybe 1/3 of mine, but Henry ate another 1/3 probably! He really loved the mashed potatoes.

For dessert, I knew exactly what I wanted here as well…Smores! I LOVE ME SOME SMORES! And these did not disappoint. I squeezed down ½ the serving.

IMG_2072Small.jpg

Joe got the apple cobbler, which he shared with Henry, both loved it!

IMG_2073Small.jpg

The service was a bit slow, but it was nuts in there and our waitress was comical about how she forgot to bring our refills. We enjoyed watching the antics going on; a nearby waitress was making people eat their vegetables by making their spoons into airplanes.

IMG_2064Small.jpg

It was hilarious! But, we were grateful on that day our waitress understood we weren’t up for the jokes, she was funny and kind and we loved our meal there! Joe really wants to go back here sometime, which is wonderful to hear because it took some convincing him for me to be able to book this ADR.

IMG_2074Small.jpg

Whoa, we are all looking!!

Up next: The newest member to our family

Oh, yikes, I knew that was coming! So sorry you got sick on your vacation! I hope it's over after today - at least if it's fast-moving you won't miss out on much. I was just talking to someone who has three kids, and on their last trip to Disney they all got the stomach bug, staggered, of course, through all five of them, so they basically missed out on five days of their vacation. Occasionally mom or dad would feel well enough to bring the kid that was feeling ok to a park for a couple of hours, but it really ruined their trip. They are making up for it this year by going for 12 days!! :woohoo:

Hmm, rambunctious boys on the bus, eh? Brings back some memories for me. Not that my boys would EVER act like that...:rolleyes1 Of course, my boys then had to sit in the room and "practice" how to ride on a bus, instead of going to the pool, and that took care of the bus ride behavior from then on. I'm a mean mom who punishes her kids even on vacation.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

That is awful about the person you know that had 5 days ruined! Ugh! Good thing they are going back soon, and NO SICKNESS ON THIS TRIP for them!!!! Thankfully ours wasn't so severe that we stayed in the room, we still had to get out and enjoy the parks.

:rotfl: I remember that ordeal with the boys. Taught them right! And good for you for still discipling on vacation. I'm one of "those" Moms too. Though Henry doesn't need much discipline (yet).

I'm so sorry you all got sick. Yuck! I have a weak stomach when it comes to food. I'm always thankful when I go through a vacation without getting sick. It is so miserable to feel that way!

Being sick wasn't fun at all. :sad2: Thankfully, it did get better soon.

WL is sooooo nice. We loved AP too when we ate there in 2006. Such good food.

We loved TSM too! I have that installment coming up soon, maybeeeee today. Not sure if I'll have time though....

Oh, my sympathy to you! Yes, it was awful to be sick, thankfully it didn't ruin the entire day/week though.

A perfect reason to go back - catch those atmosphere pictures so they can tide you over between trips! ;)

Brook - I am thoroughly enjoying your TR! So sorry the tummy bug hit you all. But you are right, it does make for a memorable vacation.

Both of our DDs have had their ills while visiting WDW. Oh man! You've been through the wringer!! Lots of memorable trips! :rotfl2:

I hope you have a great Thanksgiving as well! I hope to post one more update today, but we'll see how time goes. :)

Okay, I have the pictures loaded and this is a short(er) update, so I can squeeze one more in today before the holiday weekend!

I left off as we had finished our very good meal at 50s.

After lunch we wandered around the park a bit and headed in the general direction of TSM.

IMG_2080Small.jpg

IMG_2082Small.jpg

IMG_2083Small.jpg

Eventually we got there and marveled at how cool the area was. I loved all the toys hanging around and the giant crayons, it really felt like you were transported to a toy wonderland.

IMG_2084Small.jpg

IMG_2085Small.jpg

IMG_2086Small.jpg

IMG_2090Small.jpg

IMG_2092Small.jpg

IMG_2098Small.jpg

IMG_2094Small.jpg

Henry has a thing with bellies. He loves to lift up his shirt and pat. It's super cute.

IMG_2096Small.jpg

IMG_2102Small.jpg

IMG_2101Small.jpg

IMG_2107Small.jpg

Soon it was our turn, we boarded our little vehicle and we were off! This was SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!!! Henry got a bit antsy during it, so I blame my lame score on that.

IMG_2116Small.jpg

I'm red, Joe is blue

Joe has no excuse. ;)

After TSM we aimlessly walked around.

IMG_2126Small.jpg

No TR can be complete without a butt shot!

We ended up by the Backlot Tour, but the standby line was 30 minutes. No can do with a baby. I got a bottled water at the stand that has the giant spitting Coke bottle.

IMG_2123Small.jpg

I felt bad for the lady working, since the wind was blowing the water directly into her face. Poor woman.

Right after I got my water Joe got a phone call from his Mom. My SIL had a baby girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEA! :dance3: She is the first Granddaughter in the family. Her name is Lucia (Loo-Chee-A). When we booked the trip back in Feb. we didn’t even know she was pregnant, and it just happened her scheduled C-Section was directly during our stay. But, they called promptly and sent pictures over the phone. And I have to say, she is ADORABLE! About a week after we got back we finally had the chance to see her in person and I held her for a good hour. What a precious bundle of joy. :cloud9: Her big brother is so proud of her!

After the phone call and rejoicing over the phone about the new blessing in our family, we did more aimless wandering and we came upon the Honey I Shunk the Kids playground.

IMG_2128Small.jpg

Wow! That place is COOL! Figuratively, literally, it was HOT in there. But, Henry loooooooved it.

IMG_2132Small.jpg

He was laughing and giggling so hard, going down the little slide by himself, like a, gulp, big boy. Not so much a baby anymore.

IMG_2144Small.jpg

IMG_2147Small.jpg

IMG_2150Small.jpg

This is the face of a very happy Henry!

I anticipate we will be spending much more time there in the future!

Up next: Exhaustion sets in

I was at the Food and Wine Festival the same day. I think we really lucked out, because Camster said, Saturday was just packed.

I keep looking at your pictures to see if I am in any of them.

You know, I remember seeing a red headed little boy, and I pointed him out to my dh, because our son and daughter are red headed, and our other 2 are blond. My dd keeps telling me, the genetic redheaded gene is suppose to be dying out. :confused3

I wish we could of met up.

My dh feels the same way about POP as you do. Never again. LOL.

I was worried about you getting out of MN, I'm glad you didn't get delayed.

OhMari

Edit-I just finished reading the rest. We had trouble too getting to O'hana's. I forgot about half the food that they serve. I completely forgot about the chicken wings, and all the sauces. I was the only one that ate a chicken wing and a pot sticker. Our waiter wanted to know why we barely ate anything. I think if the alcoholic drinks weren't so strong, we could have eaten more. LOL.

First off, love all of your light pics but I am sure that is not surprising.

I am so sorry that you got sick. I really hope that it is gone for good. That bus ride with all the kids sounds very entertaining. I am go glad that you got your TSM fastpasses and were able to experience it. You had a great accuracy rate, you should be proud. :thumbsup2

Another great update!

On F&W, during my first F&W trip in '06, I made the mistake of heading to Epcot on the day that I arrived which was a Saturday. What a mad-house! During last year's trip, we made sure to avoid Epcot on Saturday.

Wow, all three of you sick during the first few days of your trip? How awful! I hope that you all got better quickly so that you could really enjoy the trip.

I am all caught up. And eagerly awaiting the story that surrounds your new ticker. Sorry that you weren't feeling very well. Mr. H is just adorable in every single photo you take!! :goodvibes

Ooh...TSM looks fun! I hope we are riding it right around this time next year! :cheer2:

Great update and great pictures - and the shot of Henry lifting up his shirt to pat his belly is the CUTEST! :)

Happy Thanksgiving! I think I am all caught up again!

Did you request turn-down service? Beautiful photos of the WL!

What a shame about waking up in the middle of the night. I hope you and Joe get it all out of your system soon, so you can enjoy your vacation!

50's looks like so much fun -- my DH is still refusing to eat there! :headache:

I love Henry's Gonzo shirt -- the Muppets are just great!

You poor thing. I can't believe what you guys went through at the beginning of your strip. I think I have sympathy queasiness.

Hey Brook! I'm trying to catch up on everything I've missed this past week; my computer had a virus so I was without it since last weekend!:headache:

Just got through your day at Epcot and you got some great pix! Glad to see you were able to sample some F&W offerings and soooo jealous that I didn't!(I LOVE those pierogies!)

Ok - back to reading more of your TR................

I thought Sunday was bad at F&W, but from the sounds of it Saturday was horrible. I probably would have given up much earlier if the crowds were worse.

That would be so crazy to see yourself in another DISers pics...but I bet it happens all the time! My cousin and her girls went earlier in the fall and I looked through TRs looking for them in pics.

That's very interesting about your DD saying the red head gene is dying out. Who knows! :confused3 I'm glad my little guy got the gene though, it's so unique! I know I recall seeing some other red headed kids at Epcot that day, I wonder if they were yours! It would stink if we were that close but didn't see each other! Hopefully our trips will cross again, there will be no stinky-baby episodes and I can get to any DISMeets!

I cannot believe the amount of food 'Ohana serves. It's completly unreal! It just keeps coming and coming. I realized it was a lot due to my faithful surfing of the Food Pictures thread, but the portions are so much bigger in person. I loved those Pot Stickers though...yum oh yum! I meant to try an N/A Lapu Lapu while at the Poly, but completely forgot about it. I so want to drink from a pineapple!

Just a quick note to say: great updates!!!

Thank you! :goodvibes

First off, love all of your light pics but I am sure that is not surprising.

I have many, many more light pictures for you. I told DH of your thread at the start of the trip and even he got into light fixture picture taking. I think I've only included a couple on this TR, but will be uploading and sharing the love on your thread as soon as I have time. Seriously, there are probably over 100 pictures of just light fixtures! :rotfl: We really got into it!

Thank you for your sympathy on the sickness...though, it is partly what fueled such a quick return trip, so in hindsight, it's not such a bad thing! ;) The bus ride was such an adventure. Oh Lordy. I did insantly notice my accuracy was better than Joe's. I sooooo wanted to rub it in. But I was nice and resisted. (Next time I hope to kick his butt! ;))

Thanks! Ya, we will avoid Epcot on the weekends during F&W going forward.

Ya, the sickness was no fun, BUT, we do get better soon!

I am all caught up. And eagerly awaiting the story that surrounds your new ticker. Sorry that you weren't feeling very well. Mr. H is just adorable in every single photo you take!! :goodvibes

The story is coming very soon. I'll try to keep breezing through the updates to make it get here quicker!

And, thank you for the nice words about my little man. :) I should show you a pic of him when he first tried rice cereal though...I wouldn't say "adorable" then! :rotfl2:

Ooh...TSM looks fun! I hope we are riding it right around this time next year! :cheer2:

Great update and great pictures - and the shot of Henry lifting up his shirt to pat his belly is the CUTEST! :)

TSM was awesome!!!!! I am really looking forward to riding it again. I hope you are riding it next year around this time too!!!!!!!!!

Henry is so funny about bellies-if Joe or I are laying on the floor he will do that to us too! :lmao:

Great Update!!! And Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

Thanks Diana! We had a great Thanksgiving! It was very busy, but a ton of fun. The drive back up to Minnesota from Chicago was sooooooooooooo long, I-90 was NUTS. But, we made it and are laying low today relaxing, enjoying another day off work before it's back to the same old. How was your Thanksgiving?

Happy Thanksgiving! I think I am all caught up again!

Did you request turn-down service? Beautiful photos of the WL!

What a shame about waking up in the middle of the night. I hope you and Joe get it all out of your system soon, so you can enjoy your vacation!

50's looks like so much fun -- my DH is still refusing to eat there! :headache:

I love Henry's Gonzo shirt -- the Muppets are just great!

Nope, we never requested the turn-down service, but got it every night! I was pretty surprised because I thought you always had to request that sort of thing.

The WL is so beautiful! I have lots more pictures of it coming up!

Joe refused to eat at 50s at first, I had to basically beg him and tell him 900 times that if we don't want to be part of the anctics we don't have to be. He was a bit nervous about it all, but it turned out great. The waitstaff can really "read" a person and tell if they are into it or not. I think she picked up we weren't up for it all that day. And now that Joe has seen some of the silliness, I think he would be more into it! I hope you can convince your DH sometime!

Henry's Gonzo shirt I made on Zazzle.com. We LOVE the Muppets too!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

You too! I hope you had a great holiday!

You poor thing. I can't believe what you guys went through at the beginning of your trip. I think I have sympathy queasiness.

Ya, it wasn't fun...but made for some unforgettable memories! Plus, I mentioned this before, but, since we were sick for the first half of the trip, it really became a big reason we are taking another trip so soon. :cool1:

"Sympathy queasiness" :rotfl: :goodvibes

Oh gosh! That sucks about the virus! Ugh. Sorry to hear that, and glad you were able to get it cleared up. What a pain.

Sorry you weren't able to sample some of the foods! Are you going back next year during F&W? I can't remember if you said or not...:scratchin But, hopefully those pierogies are still there and you are able to get some! They were veryyyy tasty, they would be on my list again...hopefully we make it there again during F&W, I love the festival and I love that time of year down there.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! We had a wonderful time with family in Chicago and my cousin got married on Friday. It was a beautiful wedding (particularly the bride, she was a princess!)!!!! We were able to enjoy the company of so many relatives we don't see very often. Henry got to see his Grandpa, Grandma, cousins, Uncle, Aunt, Great Grandma, Great Aunts and Uncles, Second and Third Cousins and more. Everyone was smoochin' him up over the weekend. :goodvibes The drive back to Minnesota was very long with a lot of traffic, so we were thankful for finally reaching home late last night. Today is relaxing and grocery shopping.

And DISing. Can't forget baout the DISing. ;)

My cousin and her new DH have a 2 year old son, currently they don't have a honeymoon planned, but they do want to take a "familymoon" to none other than DISNEY WORLD! My cousin has been there a few times and looooooves it. I am hoping to assist in convincing the DH on how awesome it is!

I have so many comments that I cannot remember everything I wanted to say. First of all, that picture of Henry on the bus is DARLING! Frame that one for sure! He looks so adorable I cannot help but want to pinch his little cheeks. What a cutie!

I am chuckling over your memorable bus ride. It sort of reminds me of dh and the boys telling me about their monorail ride with the lady who brought a live frog on with her (maybe not still live by the time the ride was over, she dropped it).

It's DVC isn't it! And I am ENVIOUS! WAY TO GO BROOKE! And even if you didn't buy in, way to get back to WDW! ;) You must have had a shorter wait then we did for your DVC rep! ;):lmao:

I am so sorry for the tummy troubles. NO FUN AT ALL EVER...but especially while on vacation! What a bummer.

That Gonzo shirt is too adorable! I love the muppets. My boys all adore them. I think we will need to look into some Zazzle muppets shirts of our own for our next trip. Thanks for the great idea!!

I am so happy you found the tin toy museum! Did Joe love it as much as you had hoped?

I laughed so hard when I saw that tacky flamingo and your question about if anyone actually ever thought those looked good. It is now my mission to take a picture of said "ugly flamingo" on my next trip. I have no idea why, but it cracked me up.:rotfl2:

Okay, how were those comments for jump all over the place? I just got back from a week out of town and caught up all at once. Sorry again about your stomach ills and I cannot wait to hear more!
