So...I'm a newbie to Universal Orlando....well, I haven't been since 2001 anyway.

I'm a bigger fella, I wear a size 4X shirt and a 56" waist, my weight is all pretty proportionate across my body. I don't have a huge belly, generally speaking, I'm just thick all over.

I'm concerned about being able to fit in the rides at Universal and IOA. When I was there in 2001 I had trouble with the regular seats just barely not fitting me. But I've heard some rides now have modified seats...is this true? Based on my stats, am I gonna be watching my wife ride everything or can I fit on these things?

I know Harry Potter added those modified seats, but I'm nervous as to whether or not they are big enough. Any experience?

Appreciate any information you can share!

Cheers,
Josh

I know on Hulk and Dragons Challenge there is modified seats in 2 rows. You can use the test seat that are in front of the entrance to try. Then ask the TM when you get to the top for the modified seating.

I'm not big but tall and I like sucking it in so to speak to make it real tight so you don't move around.:lmao:

Yes...the modified seats are located in rows three and six on each train on Hulk and Dragon Challenge. Look for the seat with the two seat buckles. You can pick which row you want on Dragon Challenge but make sure you tell the TM at Hulk so you're in the right row.

DH likes a 3x better (the 4x fits weird in the shoulders) but the waist is about the same, and he got a RED on the test seat for FJ, and didn't get to ride Hulk, Dragon Challenge, or Doctor Doom's Fearfall.

Because of his legs (he's built like a sumo with very muscular, big strong legs) he couldn't fit in the Mummy test seat either, which is simply because they make you put your legs in a position that doesn't work if you have big legs. If they had the restraint more Space Mountain at WDW style, it would restrain without disallowing those with bigger legs (at California Adventure he couldn't ride Mulholland Madness for the same reason as with Mummy).

He had a GREAT time at Universal anyway, just tried to focus on what DID work for him.

I wish you the best of luck! DH's body style is a bit different, as he's dealing with a pituitary tumor that creates prolactin. That's the milk hormone, so his upper body is still trying to come away from the "soft and squishy nursing mother" look that happened while his doctors were busy refusing to do the bloodwork (for 3 years as he lost weight and gained upper body mass). Therefore, along with the natural muscle he has and the righteous weight he has from having eaten too much in the past, he's also got this extra stuff that the prolactinoma has caused, and therefore has a much bigger and thicker back and chest than he should have.

And therefore, he might have more mass than another person would even with the same waist measurement, and his experience might not match yours! I do hope so, though it's completely possible to have a FABULOUS time even if you can't hit the "big" rides. We sure did!

My Dh is 6'4 and close to 380 pounds. He wears a 4xl. He was not able to ride most of the rides at either park. He said that he thinks if he lost about 50 pounds he would be able to do the coasters. But he thinks his shoulders and height will prevent him from riding FJ in WWOHP.

He was able to ride Mummy, FOTH, River Adventure, Spiderman, the Dr. Sues rides, and Jaws. He says he had fun and didn't feel limited, because he enjoyed the shows and theming of the parks.

But he is on a mission to lose weight before HHN so hopefully he can make his goal.
