UO/Amtrak (not autotrain)

We are going down to UO the week before Christmas and are thinking of taking Amtrak down to the Orlando station. Has anyone else done this? If so, did you enjoy the ride and how did you get to UO-rental,shuttle, etc.? We can ride Amtrak from SC for under $300 round trip coach seats for a family of 4!!!! We usually have to spend an extra night going and coming back from Fl due to my back issues-this will really save us on hotel,gas, and wear/tear on our car!!!!!

I am a really big fan of Amtrak. We have taken the train from Philadelphia to both Orlando and Atlanta Georgia and I have to say it's a great ride. Coach seats are pretty comfortable and you can always get up, walk around, hang out in the lounge car. I also love the food you get on Amtrak, it's a little pricy but it's good quality.

I don't believe there is a shuttle from the Orlando station (when we went we got off in Kissimmee), so you will need to get a cab or town car.

Finding a cab at the station is not a problem. I work at ORMC which is right down the road from the station and cabs are sitting there all day...every day.
