The forecasts and weather don't normally fluctuate quite so dramatically. Usually, the cool down is very slow and gradual... from 100s down to the 90s... from the 90s down to the 80s and so on, and it takes a while to get to a comfortable place. But we also don't normally have this crazy humidity that we have been 'blessed' with this year.
There are, on rare occasions, some extreme fluctuations within a short span of time. I remember posting about it on Facebook a few years ago -- one week was 100 something degrees. Exactly one week later it was 64 degrees, or something around there (63 or 65). It was bizarre that there was such a drastic drop in the course of a week. That's the kind of weather shift I like to see -- a massive drop in temperature -- but, with my luck, the next shift will be a massive spike in the temperature!!
It's been insane in the bay area too. One week in Sept. it was a high of maybe 62 degrees , the next day it was 90!! Finally the forecast is where I want it to be..highs of a few 80 days the rest is low 70's..FINALLY.
Where we live we get the coastal breeze/cooling from SF but when it's hot it can just linger and some days the humidity has just stuck making it worse.
When we were down for a few days in September it was pretty miserable but thankfully we know how to make the best of it. I'll take all the rain everyday over that again.
