Last week I had a job interview. It was a night, after hours. Murphy's Law was really working overtime though. I had to work on a project that had to be done that night (even had to come back after the interview to do some of it). I printed off my resume just before I left to give to them, and the printer ran out of paper after 1 page (I have 2 pages). I got to the El (Subway), and the train I needed had just left (I saw it leave from walking down the stairs). I figured no problem, they run every 8 minutes. 20 minutes later, the next one showed up. The only phone I saw to call them had been completely removed. I got to the Montrose station 15 minutes late for the interview, tried to call (and it's an open air station, and it was the coldest night of the year so far) and got trapped in their voice mail. Didn't leave a message. Went to find a cab - nothing there. Walked 2 blocks down and then turned right. After a few more blocks down, came to find out I should have turned left. Got back to the intersection, it was 7:45; interview was set for 7:00. At that point, I figured it just wasn't meant to be.

I kept thinking, however, I should have sent a note of apology to them. Kept putting it off. Never did send it. Now we come to the strange part.

Yesterday, I got a call to reschedule the interview. Hmmm... I'm going again tonight (at least it won't be as cold). Figure they must have really liked my resume. Anyone else got any other thoughts?

In this day and age when jobs are hard to come by, I'd reschedule and be happy that they thought so highly of me from my resume!

Actually twice with the same company. The first interview with the company was with a personnel person, then they wanted me to come back for a second, technical interview. The first time I scheduled the appointment for the second interview, I left work a little early, came home to clear my head and change into some interview clothes (I didn't want anyone to know I was interviewing) only to find out that our cat had died. Since this was my DS's beloved pet, I didn't feel right about going out and leaving my DH to deal with it all, so I called and rescheduled. The second time I left for the interview, I was on the tollway and one of the tires on the car blew out. Fortunately, I was able to pull off to the side, but then I found out that the battery on my mobile phone was dead. So, I got in the car and limped along the shoulder until I got near an on-ramp, then I left the car by the side of the road, walked up the ramp (fortunately there was enough room that I didn't have to worry too much about getting hit) then I had just enough change to call my DH, give him the number where I was and he called the company and gave them the number. They decided to just send the interviewer to the IHOP where I was calling from. I didn't do very well on the interview and they decided not to hire me after all, but I figured maybe God was trying to tell me something anyway....
