Unused park tickets....

My stepmom bought 7 day park tickets and had to change her plans and will only be there for 5 days now.
1. Is there any hope at all of her calling and getting the tickets changed to 5 days and getting reimbursed the difference?
2a. I would tell her to hold on to them if they didn't expire
2b. but she has to use all of her passes within 14 days of the first day she uses a ticket, right?
3. Anyone ever tried calling and explaining to see?
4. If not, no big deal, it is probably only $100-150 and she chose to change her plans and can live with the consequences.
1. There is always a "chance," but that is against standard policy.
2a. If none of those particular tickets were used at all, they can be saved.
She COULD just buy NEW 5-day tickets for now and save the current tickets (or their value) for
a future trip.
2b. Yes. Once a ticket has started to be used, any part of it still left will expire at the end of the 14th day.
3. Yes. And, again, anything is possible. But, it will be up to the CM as to whether they will change the ticket.
The circumstances for each "exception" will make predicting what will be the outcome impossible.
4. You didn't say how many tickets are involved, but the difference price (per ticket)
between 7-day Base ticket and a 5-day Base ticket is $21.30 incl. tax.

Warning to those who are going to do this kind of upgrade. I just did this the first week of March--upgraded from a 7-day PH to an AP--and I was overcharged for the purchase. I realized this only because of Robo's clear, precise, and accurate information here on the DIS. Nevertheless, even armed with this information, GS wouldn't admit that they'd made a mistake. However, after I got home, at Robo's advice, I called WDW and they did in fact issue me a refund for the overage they'd charged me.

So, if at all possible, figure out exactly what the price of your ticket upgrade/exchange/etc. will cost before you do it. That way at least you'll have an idea of what's what--even if you have to wait until you get home to fix things. Why would you have to wait until then? Because the CMs in Guest Relations (Guest Services?) aren't necessarily experts on all things tickets and they rely on whatever the computer says. I will herewith refrain from maligning WDW's computers!

Thanks RoBo!!
RoBo - do you have any thoughts as to why when we went to renew our AP's (end of last year) and asked to have the 2 days (purchased as part of the package to get the free dining offer last December) of unused tickets applied to the renewal we were met with skepticism from cast members at guest services - this happened to myself AND two other parties (myself at HS guest services and friends at MK guest services) we travel with. We actually heard cast members say - we're not sure we can do this anymore - and then after they went to "speak with a manager" in the "back room" did they go ahead and apply the unused ticket. Thoughts?? Comments?

Whom you get as a CM at Guest Relations (or anywhere) is simply "luck-of-the-draw."
Some CMs have better training than others.

These boards are full of reports of "what happened when we upgraded" with the outcomes ranging at all levels between "disappointing" and "highly satisfactory."

One of THE most time-honored responses/procedures from many CMs is the infamous, "speak with a manager" in the "back room" and then announce that they will do the requested operation "just this once."

A. Will they combine the 3 one day PH to a 3 day PH
B. or issues 3 separate tickets?
C. And do they expire once they are traded in?
A. No. They won't be able to alter the tickets.
B. Yes.
C. No. They don't alter the tickets.
