Unusal trip ending...

I would not be going to a park or going to a character breakfast on check out day. Both sound too stressful. I can barely get out of my room by 11am on check out day.

I would maybe go to DS for last minute shopping or to grab a bite to eat, but I'd probably just hang at the resort and relax.

This wouldn't work. The ticket would expire 14 days after first use. Whether OP uses it on the first day or second day there, the 16th day is after expiration.

On further research, I'm just not SURE about this.
If they don't use the ticket on "day-1" (but wait until "day-2") it MIGHT still be valid on "day-16."

But that would make it 15 days from first use, not "within 14 days." ;)

Yes. That's exactly what I mean to say.
I don't know if it's true, or not, but that's what's been reported about the expiration of the UK "14-day" tickets.

I have no quick way of confirming or denying this bit of "info."

We love doing a character breakfast on our last day. We also love a final go around on the monorail to say good bye to the MK.

I suggest an Ohana breakfast (with possible lovely views of the castle) followed by a boat ride to the Grand Floridian (also with lovely castle and monorail views and even a stop at MK), a walk through the GF, and a final monorail circle to complete the Kiss Goodbye.

This makes for a wonderful Disney morning with no ticket required.

Along with (by my count) at least two extra security checks. ;)

No way could I go to the parks on departure day, just the the thought of possibly getting delayed somewhere between the park and resort and missing DME back to the airport sends me into a full blown panic attack :crazy2: With your flight being mid day, I would definitely sleep in. grab breakfast at the resort, and then relax by the pool. Would much rather use a full day at the parks during my stay then a short half day on departure day.

Do you have 10-day tickets?
Do you have the WPF&M option?

I also have the 14 day Disney UK tickets.

Have read many reports that it covers 15 full, consecutive days of entry. Apparently the verbiage in the ticket description is a tiny bit different from the US tickets which only allows use over 14 consecutive days.

1. OK.
2. That does seem to be the case.
3. Yup.

We never go to the parks on arrival or departure days regardless of having an AP. On the last day we like to sleep in as much as we can and have a late table service breakfast. We then get on the monorail and visit the different shops and let the kids have a last day of shopping. If the flight is late one, then we relax at the GF lobby and listen to the music while we wait for DME to pick us up.

I 2nd, 3rd, and 4th the general consensus on this one; in a lifetime of going to Disney I have never been to a park on departure day. We say goodbye the night before, if flying we'll do breakfast somewhere local to the resort and if driving we go to eat at DS before heading off property...crying the whole time of course, but that's besides the point.

Another out of park option I haven't seen mentioned are the pirate cruises. My son will be at the one at the Grand Floridian from 9:30 to 11:30 one day. It's kids only, but the adults in our group will be enjoying time exploring the monorail resorts while he is there.

We usually have a character breakfast if we have afternoon flight. This August we have early evening flight so we plan to spend half day at the park.

If you really want to visit the park on your last day, I wonder whether you would consider attending MVMCP during your visit. It would be fun and may worth the extra cost of the party tickets and save one admission for the last day.
This is a really good idea if the party dates match up for OP! They have a 16 day trip ending on the 16th. Is the Dec 1st their arrival day? Then Dec 2nd would be their first full day for relaxing at AKL, Disney Springs and mini golf? They could go to MVMCP on Dec 3rd, and their party ticket lets them enter the park at 4:00 PM.
Here are the 2017 December dates:
  • December 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10, 12, 14, 15, 17, 19, 21 and 22

I would also say don't go to the parks on departure day. However, if you still want to say goodbye to the castle you could take a bus to one of the hotels on the MK loop and ride the monorail around! Each of those resorts are so fun to go into too!

We're just doing breakfast our last day at Boma and relaxing until Magical Express comes!

We always say goodbye to MK the day before our departure. Departure day is spent at Disney Springs having some great food and maybe bowling. We let the kids design a t-shirt, too. We never regret our last, laid back, no-lines, but still Disney day.

Hi,

We have a 16 stay in WDW scheduled for Dec ending on 16th. But we can't justify getting 21 day passes, only 14 day passes (we're UK so the ticketing is slightly different) which leaves us with a problem.

On our first full day we plan to relax in AKL, go to Disney Springs and maybe head over to the Fantasia mini-golf if we feel like it. But IF we want to access the parks on our last day (departure day) that means we can't go to the parks on our second day, either. My problem with this is that we could have a full day access on that day, instead of just a few hours on departure day, but I feel really sad about not saying 'goodbye' to the Magic Kingdom on the day we leave.

DME will probably collect us around 2.30pm to return to the airport so it seems a waste to forfeit a full day of park access on our second day, for just a few hours on our last day. What would you do? If you couldn't go to parks on your last day, what would you do instead? Would it make you sad that you couldn't go?

The reason this wasn't an expected issue was because we planned to go to Universal for the first 2 days of our trip, leaving 14 days in Disney and 14 days of tickets. But we now don't have the mountain of cash required for 2 days in universal (cabs, tickets, food, tips etc) hence the issue coming up.
Keen to hear what you'd choose to do to say goodbye to Disney without park access. Thanks! x
I often travel as a family from the UK, and too have the same problem. Don't recommend wasting the ticket for the half day on your departure date. I'd suggest either Disney Springs (especially if you are booked through Virgin and are planning to drop cases off/check in at Disney Springs...) or a bit of resort hopping (maybe grab a breakfast at one of the resorts?)

Just a note to say that there are no buses to the MK resorts from any other resorts. Guests would take a bus to the MK gates and could board the monorail at the MK station.

We never go to a park on our last day. Too much to do, too hectic. It would be a waste of a ticket for us. We usually go to Disney Springs, mini golf, tour a resort we've never been to, eat lunch, etc...

I was going to suggest the party as well and then could save your last day for a goodbye to MK.
