I may have missed the answer to this (sorry if I have).

There are 7 of us going into the parks but for some rides only 5 will want to select that ride for a fast pass. That leaves 2 unused fast pas options - Can those options be used by anyone in the party or does it have to be the 2 that did not go on the other ride.

Really what I am trying to say is are fast passes assigned to the ticket holder or if in a group can they be pulled.

My understanding is that Fastpasses are assigned to a specific ticket. However, there is nothing to prevent members of a party traveling together from exchanging MagicBands or tickets to use assigned Fastpasses. It's really no different than passing legacy paper Fastpasses around your party. I don't ride coasters or thrill rides at all, so my kids use all my Fastpasses for those rides.

They are assigned to individuals. Once you scan your magic band the cast members can also see you name & possibly other info so switching bands might not work!

My DD used my magic band for several FPP on thrill rides I don't like last trip. She didn't have any problems with it.

Yes you can exchange bands (anyone can use any of them) - to make it even easier we named all our magicbands after characters (Buzz and Minnie etc..)

You can split your fastpass+ bookings too - the best way I found was too book everyone on 3 things then "change experience" for just the people that want to do something else on each 1 of the bookings

We were able to use this to get me and kids onto 4 FP+ each day in advance (My wife doesn't do rides)

:welcome:
No matter what name you put on the actual band, your real name is what shows up on the scanner. We had no trouble switching bands, though.

I wasn't planning to get magic band - do I have to or can we just use or tickets- we are staying off-site (I thought the bands were only for on-site).

As far as I know, the process works the same with MagicBands or tickets. You should be able to exchange them within your group with no problems. You'll have to be more careful about keeping track of who each ticket belongs to, though. The MagicBands are printed with names, which makes it easier to track.

No you don't have to buy magic bands the tickets will work just fine.

Make sure you write the name on them in a sharpie though so you don't have any issues with finger prints and turnstiles :thumbsup2

you CAN buy Magic Bands and have them linked to your MDX profile thus allowing you to use the Bands instead of the tickets (I think MBs are $12.95 a piece)

But you are not required to.
As PP mentionned, your RFID tickets will work just fine.
