Most of what we eat is at home as well. DS7 always chooses pizza for school lunch, which he only gets maybe once a month. But I get into cooking/meal preparing ruts, boring same ol' dishes and lunches. I need to peruse the cooking books again, and buy a better variety of lunch items.

There is a woman on the food network who has a really great show. She basically takes one thing, and makes it into 3 or 4 different really healthy meals at home. I LOVE her show, let me see if I can find it.

Tomorrow is my dad's b-day. Any gift ideas? I don't know what to get him!

We don't get that channel, but I'd love to check out her website. My mom is always talking about food people she watches on TV. I like this show on PBS called 'Everyday Foods', and it really is very simple, basic dishes. They even have short segments on things I don't know about, like how to sharpen good knives, what kind of utensils to have around the kitchen, how to cut up a chicken, etc. That's pretty much my speed! :thumbsup2

Though I've seen Paula Deen, she seems really cool! Great attitude, and really laid back. But I've heard her recipes are really high fat, not so good for us.

You should get the Food Network. I watch it every day :) I like Paula Deen but I preferred her old show. :confused3 Watching her cook always makes me hungry!! :happytv:

yeah... Paula Deen is mostly butter... Very unhealthy! You should check out Rachel Rays cook books, and Robin Miller... They both cook fairly healthy stuff.

Ohhh... Speaking of Paula Deen, shes on now!! I am going to head off now, i have to make a salad, and do some dishes before dinner!

Yeah, she seems like such a sweetheart. Of course if you were one of her kids, that means your dad would be her butthead ex-husband... :rolleyes1

Does he like books? If so, what kind?
He travels a lot, maybe some cool travel gadget?

I wanted to do that before but then my sister beat me to it. She bought him a neck pillow from Brookstone or Sharper Image. Hopefully I'll find something! :goodvibes:

I'll talk to you guys later. Gotta finish up papers. I'm entering a bunch of orders at the same time. lol! See ya! pixiedust:

Wow peoples, you were really busy today. I thought I had 30 minutes to Dis, but now after reading everything I only have 5 minutes!

Welcome back Alison!
We missed you !

Sounds like you had a grea time.. well except for the Gecko. ewwwwwwwwwww

Looked a bit online, not sure why the doc thinks they don't cover home hemo.. from what I read they do cover it and have partnered with a program to encourage up to 30% of their patients to use home hemo.

Maybe it's more of a problem in our area?

We think his HR benefit dept screwed something up, insurance was to start September 1st, says so when I look at his benefits online.. it's now the 12th and we don't have cards.
Even if the family coverage doesn't start until later, hubby still should have recvd coverage from their default plan (Blue Cross).
Hubby is going to benefits dept to figure it out today. Dialysis hasn't sent us a bill, yet... we shall see how that plays out. They may be just accepting Medicare payment and waived the copays for now.. then again he had that emergency room stay.. haven't got a bill and that was weeks ago. :confused3

If you have Kaiser HMO you usually don't see the bills, unless referred outside of Kaiser. You just pay your copay and they take care of the rest!:thumbsup2

Lauren will not be coming with me on the trip at the end of October!! I am so so bummed. This is the unthinkable part....

I FINALLY agreed to let my mom take her to.......WDW in October. I have been stressing about this for months. I really really really wanted any of our first times at WDW for me and the kids to be together. I wanted to experience it with them, all the details, all the differences. It was my dream for many years now that just kept being postponed.

Well now she's going, tickets are booked so I can't change my mind, and that's that!! I am so so upset. When we finally go, it won't be new for her. It'll be old hat. I won't hear her shock when she realizes Pirates is different than the one here. I won't see her reaction the first time she goes on Expedition Everest. I won't face the first time she sees the HUGE castle!!

Okay, I am in shock here people!! This isn't happening, this isn't happening. I can't believe I caved. I know it sounds silly, like compared to my real life this definitely is NOT a problem, but I am sad. It's so hard. But I know that if I had been offered a trip as a kid and my mom hadn't let me go, I would probably have to kill her now. So I am taking the hit so my baby girl can go have fun and experience "the world" without her Mom.

Andrea

Awww. She's about the age when they start getting their own life. She will have so much fun. Her grandma won't be there forever, so she's creating some wonderful memories. I have so many great memories of my grandmother at DL.

What's up Hyenas? :smooth:

I'm eating lunch at my desk: chicken mc nuggets and a filet o' fish.

I had a green salad w/reduced fat dressing, nectarine and pita chips for lunch. And I'm the one with cancer why??

hey, stop that Poly!

I set my plate down (our new computer desk is tiny) , and she licked it clean.
Sour cream with a bit of Dorito leftovers. Not exactly good kitty food.

Sour cream & Dorito's! And once again I ask why I'm the one with cancer?

Oh, please please PLEASE let the Tag Fairy be eavesdropping today! :rotfl2:

I put my repellant on today!

I wish! I'm too dang cheap to pay $80 and up for a costume for myself.

Free costumes in the closet, use your imagination. Get DH's old flannel shirt, big jeans with a rope for a belt, a stick and handkerchief, put vaseline on your face and stick coffee grounds in it for a beard - Voila! You're a Hobo!

I really wanted to get this costume last year but we didn't have anywhere to go and I didn't want to spend the money just to wear it around the house.

Oh, that's pretty much what I wear while vacuuming and doing laundry! :lmao:

mmm This sounds good, except change the cinnamon and cloves out for something more savory.
Reminded me of Pasties.
Loved getting those at a bakery when I went with my dad on business trips up to the Iron Range area in MN as a child. He sold big machinery parts to the taconite mining companies.
(history of mining in the area, pasties are hand held meat pies - perfect lunch or dinner when down in the mine)

Where I come from Pasties are something totally different!:scared1:

Gee, thanks! :goodvibes

The hardest part for us isn't our relationship, it's DH's health issues; very stressful at times. And as if he wasn't scared enough (thinking he was going to die), he began having nightmares that I was going to leave him for a "younger, healthier model." I couldn't believe he would even think that!

Well, and along the lines of the earlier conversation, it really would be nice to get some alone time once in awhile...

Men are so silly! Like we would trade in one that we've spent over a decade training! Yeah, right!!

We've had similar conversations.

I thought it weird that my MIL thanked me for giving him a kidney, she said she couldn't do that for a husband.. WTH???!!
Granted she had some crummy husbands in the past, but if someone you know is suffering.. why wouldn't you step forward to help if you can??? :confused3

Statistics show that when women have partners with chronic illness, they tend to stay in the marriage.

On the other hand, when men's partners have chronic illness, they tend to leavethe marriage to file divorce. Citing too much stress, unable to cope with the demands.

Shhh...don't tell DH!

I wish the ol' "Let's watch a movie" worked in our house. They are happy to watch as long as we are in the same room. {sigh}

I'm very troubled by the last sentence! Especially given the subject!!:scared1: J/K!!!!

:rotfl2: When I was small I didn't want my parents to come to parents night and stuff. I assumed it was something bad and the teacher was going to tell them how bad I was or something. :scared1:

My school was really strict.....they had a sad face pouch on the wall with our names on it. If we did something wrong, we would have to pick a colored construction paper (based on what we did) and put it in our pouch. Then the teacher would give us a tally to bring home for our parents to sign. I had TONS of those and it was always for something stupid: talking, picking a leaf off one of the plants outside, blowing a whistle in 1st grade was my favorite! :rolleyes1

The truth comes out finally!

I make them sometimes... Not very often though. We still have a crap load of rice and beans... So, you think for dinner instead of spaghetti noodles, we should have the sauce over rice and beans?:lmao: :lmao: GROSS!!

Oh Tag Fairy....Staley has a crap load of rice & beans!

She should carry a bat in her car.. Thats what i used to do when i had to drive alone at night.:thumbsup2

Or a 357 Magnum!:rolleyes1 Just to make sure they are good & dead after you hit them over the head with a bat!

OK, gotta run and go to the bank. TTYL!!

So after reading all those posts about spongebob put that song in my head. ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Who lives in a pineapple under the sea???
SPONGE BOB SQUARE PANTS!
Absorbant and yellow and porous is he!!

Yay, Christina!!! :woohoo:

Sorry to hear about the pulled muscle. We just tried out the wii bowling. DH was so pleased with it until he had me try it out, and I got strike after strike. And when DS3 tried it, he got like 125! :rotfl2:
:rotfl2: That reminds me when my aunt and uncle played. My aunt got strike after strike and she was drunk, my uncle who was sober got so mad he quit and started playing one player baseball lol.
Poor Christina  I know how you feel. The first time I played the Wii I was soooo sore!! My dad and my siblings played too and they were sore also!! :rotfl: Especially from bowling! ;)

When you play baseball you don't have to throw real hard. I thought that you had to but now I just flick the wii-mote and it works that way too.

I haven't played my Wii in a long time. I do miss playing Wario Smooth Moves. That game is funny! :teeth:

I remember hearding that when the Wii first came out this one lady played bowling. Well I guess her strap on the wii mote wasn't tight enough and when she threw her arm forward, the wii-mote flew out of her hand and broke her TV screen! :rotfl: I think she sued Nintendo too, which is so dumb! :sad2:

Another person lifted their arm too high and the strap got caught on their ceiling fan. It sounds awful but it's kinda funny envisioning that!
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: This is so funny! I can just imagine someone doing that. I've hit my ceiling a few times, there are really low ceilings in this house. I've also hit dh lots when we play tennis. But I'm a pro with a score of 1900! Oh yeah. But boxing and baseball hurt me the most.

Awe Andrea. You're doing the right thing though. My ex aunt refused to let my cousin go with my grandma and me to DL (even though it would have been a paid trip) because it was her dream to do DL with my cousin for the first time. Unfortunately my cousin is now 14 (she was 10 at the time) and still has not been to Disneyland and my aunt has no plans to take her. When my cousin is older she'll be right pissed at her mother for not letting her go. I know it's tough, but you did the right thing.

:rotfl: I love this! Sucks that you had to put paper in when you didn't do anything wrong but if I had kids I would so be the mom who had bad behaviour pouches on the fridge lol.
The other night my bf came home and he said that one of his co-workers was working late and she went home and then came back to work. She said there were 2 guys standing in front of her house on the sidewalk and she was scared. I think she's in her late 50's or early 60's. My bf told her to call the police but she said she was too scared to. He ended up following her home (she lived just a few blocks away). He said just as he was about to leave, his co-worker said: "BYE *his name*!!" really loud and he was all: "Oh crap!!!" :sad2: The guys were still there when my bf was there. He said they looked like drug addicts. :scared:
:scared1: I hate being alone at night.
She was too scared to call the police? I don't even know what that means, it makes no sense. :confused3

So she lets her co-worker, who (I assume) has no gun or training dealing with this type of person, follow her home, that made her feel safer? :rotfl:
:lmao:
She should carry a bat in her car.. Thats what i used to do when i had to drive alone at night.:thumbsup2

I would like to get pepper spray does anyone know where I can get it? I've always wondered, because they can't just sell it to anyone can they?

Christina!! Thanks a bunch, I know it's the right thing, I want her to be able to experience new things all her life, I guess at first it's hard, but I'll get used to it!

By the way, AZ and I were talking the other day about what dates exactly you will be there. We both thought different dates, so we need to know the real ones!!! It's coming quick, I remember just like yesterday you were posting how LONG it felt till your trip! Now it's almost here!
