Actually, there is such a thing as dual processors for laptops. My boyfriend has one (Alienware M5550: has a dual core intel)
That's what DH is talking about. Dual core is not the same as dual proc, but it simulates dual processing.

Okay... here is what HE built... But at $1500.. Well..
He said this is a good business machine and fine for playing games. He'd be tempted to put more RAM on it though.

He also asked if it needs to be a laptop, because you can get more power with a PC.

My bf is the computer genius, I have no clue what's right or wrong. :rotfl: He does read a lot of PC books and mags and builds PC's. He used to write programs in high school and sold them. He created a program for his pharmacy to use, which is really cool. I don't know why he never went into the computer field. :confused3

We discussed that, and we both kinda want a laptop... just so we can take it with us when we travel and stuff. Our desktop seems to work fine for now... Just needs to be cleaned a bit. Plus we dont have anywhere to set up another desktop!:lmao: :lmao: More ram huh... I will check that out!:thumbsup2

Oh geez!! I just looked to see how much the 4GB ram thing is...:faint: Its another $400! Will it make it last longer?

I'm with you two, I am no computer genius by any stretch of the imagination (despite the CS degree, heh!) DH has built probably thousands of computers, including servers and entire networks, actually. Most of his clients were business people, however, so gaming is not his forte. However, many of his co-workers are gamers and so he knows a lot about the machines from them. :confused3

Dh has now told me to build him one with the same specs as the lap top.. to see how much that is! DOESNT HE KNOW WHO HES TALKING TOO!!!!! :headache: I dont ask him to go grocery shopping for all of our food, DO I????

Staley- my bf said if your DH likes to play a LOT of games, he said to get the highest specification video card it can hold. All the specs are pretty good. He suggests that your DH keep in mind that he has to factor how long the batter lasts. It can be $1,500 for the laptop but the battery could die in 2 hrs or less. Research the models battery life and shop online for a replacement battery that lasts longer.

okay... i give. Dh is getting a wallet for Christmas!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Oh, and just in case that was a serious question, the answer is no. Dh says it's not like the Energizer bunny. :lmao:

RAM is memory, space to store a running program(s), so it can make things run faster, but not last longer.

:thumbsup2 He wants the best battery we can get for it. Back in the stoneages.. when we fist met, we had a laptop.. it couldnt even play a movie all the way through!

Bf asks: Is he only using the laptop for gaming? If he is going to use the laptop for lots of game playing 4 GB is fine, if he's just going to use it for internet use than 2GB is fine. My bf's laptop is only 1GB and he can play Need for Speed Most Wanted. It depends on what his preference is.

He suggests reseraching the battery life by looking at consumer reviews online. CNet.com is a good site. He is asking what model # your laptop is

okay... I get it. I was wondering if that would make it not be outdated as fast... does that make sense?

Heeeyyyyy... Pixster justs reminded me that Dh hasn't bought ME a laptop battery yet!
