Unsafe places to stop along 26 & 95?

taking the 90/79/77 route to Orlando in a few weeks. Hoping to leave early and get as far as 26 or 95 on the first day. It will be late when we stop so won't have the time or the energy to pick and choose a hotel.

Any stops/hotels along 26 and 95 in South Carolina and Georgia to avoid - unsafe etc?

Any recommendations for hotels? Nothing fancy just clean and safe.

We've never had a problem anywhere along there. Orangeburg is probably the biggest town in the area where I-26 and I-95 meet. We've stayed there several times but because we travel this way so often, I can't remember which hotels we've used. Sleep Inn is always a safe bet.

We stopped at the Red Roof in Brunswick GA just over a week ago. It was a total dive. We had hairs on the sheets and there were funky stains in the bathroom. We were too tired to change rooms or motels so we got the sheets changed and stuck it out. I worried about our van in the parking lot all night. Fortunately everything was ok in the morning.
