Unpacking...

Looking at the photos if the renovated rooms got me thinking... Do you guys usually unpack your clothes into the drawers or use packing cubes in the suitcase or stack on shelves on shelves, etc ?

This may seem like a silly question but our trip to Disney will be the first time I've traveled for more than 4 days since I was 17 years old!

Our family lives out of our suitcases only hanging a few items that may need it.

I must unpack everything once we check in. I love to feel like I'm home for my week of vacation! I guess I'm in denial that it is temporary, lol!

We are total unpackers. Nothing left in the suitcase at all.

We use the drawers to keep our clothes in (still in their packing cubes but unzipped for easy access).

We use all available hangers and quite often request more.

We use folding fabric storage bins for random things to keep the room from looking like a bomb went off in it.

Once those suitcases are unpacked, vacation begins! We have officially moved in for 10-12 nights!

I am more comfortable at the resort after completely unpacking. It makes the resort a home away from home. Unpacking and putting things in their proper place helps to keep us from misplacing things, and it keeps the resort room looking as nice as it did when we first arrived. We store dirty clothes and souvenirs in the empty suitcases during the trip.

You must be my vacation twin. I do the exact same thing! Packing cubes in the drawers, fabric storage bins near the tv and on the shelf above the clothes, call and ask for a dozen more hangers. No one leaves the room until I have everything unpacked and organized.

Haven't done the pop up hamper. Maybe this time! We use our suitcases for dirty clothes. I use the giant XXL ziplock bags inside of our suitcases when I pack. The dirty clothes just go back in the bag so our suitcases stay clean.

Long Trip - Unpack everything, keep everything tidy

Short Trip - Live out of suitcase and packing cubes

Sometimes it depends on the time of year too. E.g., summer = only shorts and t-shirts, that's easy to live out of a suitcase. During winter, we likely have more clothes/layers so need to be a bit more organized, so unpacking helps.

Packing cube question... do you have an issue with wrinkling? Every review I've read suggests rolling clothes to pack in the cubes. I'm envisioning lots of wrinkles! But I want to try the cubes!

For me, I pack like-kind stuff in each cube. Socks in one, shorts in another, swimming clothes in another, etc, etc. I have cubes of various sizes, which is helpful.

I actually don't really like the cubes all that much when we are there, but I find them helpful for packing purposes to keep me organized and effecient in space use.

We hang a few things, but mostly live out of the suitcases. We bring a pop up hamper for dirty clothes.

Hotels = live out of suitcases

I've always hung everything I could (a bit concerned by what looks like a smaller "closet" in the new rooms at Pop) and kept everything else in packing cubes in my suitcase.

When the kids were young I used the Ziplock bag method for them.

I pack like things together in the cubes.

Packing cube question... do you have an issue with wrinkling? Every review I've read suggests rolling clothes to pack in the cubes. I'm envisioning lots of wrinkles! But I want to try the cubes!

I wear the moisture wicking shirts and roll them in a packing cube. They don't wrinkle. I don't put my shorts in a packing cube but I do roll them. I hang them up and any wrinkles fall out. I've never had to iron anything. For me, rolling definitely takes up less space in the suitcase.

We live out of our suitcases if it's under 4-5 nights. If it's a longer stay than that we'll unpack (by we, I mean DW...I'd be fine just keeping things in the suitcase but apparently after a few days I have our neatly arranged suitcase disorganized).

I pack using the ziploc method and unpack when get there. I do leave everything in their respective ziplocs though. I pack a large empty rolling duffle in our suitcase as well that gets used for dirty laundry and souvenirs go in the big suitcase
