Unofficial guide to WDW

I have it and have bought it in the past. There is a lot of detail in the book not found on the website. I like the idea of having a book as well. I can bring it in the car and look things up whenever. It is huge though, about 848 pages and also includes some info on US/IOA as well.

Totally worth it!

I think the internet is good to get up-to-date info (like this board), but a book like the UG lays everything out in a comprehensive way so you can see the whole layout of how the parks are set up, etc.

Yes. There is a lot of useful info I borrowed it from the library, have to return it. Just to check it out. I just got it on ibooks

Absolutely it is brilliant. I used it in 2004 (in early July) and never queued more than 20 minutes (often less).

Is it worth getting or is internet info enough
Thank you

You can certainly get more "up to the minute" info online; however, I give the UG a big :thumbsup2. It's fun to read and interesting (in the manner of the DISboards) the concerns and questions that others have. Even if you check out an older copy of it--read it and then go to the net for additional research.

Read it cover to cover, especially if you are new to the WDW experience.

I have bought many copies, and it has really grown over the years. My last purchase was the from ibooks. It was great to have it on my ipad. I truly is the best book with the most complete information on WDW. You can always check one out from the library, but it is helpful to have along on the trip to check out info while relaxing in your room.

I bought it on my Kindle so it will be easy to take with us. I can also have it on my itouch through the Kindle app so it can go to the parks with us too. Our library always has an out of date version.

I found it to be informative and a nice souvenir to remind me of my 2014 trip. I would get it just to read the reviews of Disney guests...some of them are so absurd and funny!

...They have the regular version and a "with kids" version.

What is the difference? Anyone have experience with the with kids version, and is it preferable to the regular?

The "with kids" version is geared more toward families traveling with younger children. It assumes you won't be taking part in adult nightlife activities, as well as assumes you will be more focused on more kid-friendly rides/attractions as opposed to thrill-oriented activities. I believe it also adjusts the touring plans to account for more/longer breaks. Personally, I prefer the regular edition as it gives you all the info...and you can draw your own planning conclusions from it. However, if someone is in the mindset of "ok, we're traveling with three-year-old triplets...we're not getting on Rock N' Roller Coaster on this trip", it could be useful in that you won't be getting info that doesn't apply to you.
