The Unofficial Guide does a lot of research at the WDW parks. They conduct pedestrian traffic impact studies on at least a quarterly basis. The get volunteers from local schools and regular Joe's because pedestrian counts for turning movements, circulation, passby, internal capture and distribution are labor intensive. I have requested the same level of study at Universal and have been denied based on volume. They said US/IOA does not generate enough traffic to warrant study yet. So their book's Touring Plan is nothing more than an educated guess. I realized that when they listed Shrek as having a throughput of 2000 when only one theater was open. You can bet that Universal has queueing theory research but they don't share and to date no independent group has done it. That is why we base our touring plans around experience of other Disser's that post here. Guys like Robvia can give you a touring plan as good as any book written to date. When Kelly Monoghan updates his book he usually looks to us on this board for the optimum plan by consensus.
