Universal transportation questions

We are thinking of staying at RPR for a week in August. We have stayed there before but I do have a couple of questions related to transportation.

- We will arrive in a rental car but would like to drop it off at the start of the stay. I believe there is a rental place right at Universal? What would be the best way to go about this i.e. should we drop off the car first (if so how far is it to check-in/is there some sort of Transportation) or check in first (if so would we have to pay for parking or is short-term parking free)?

- How far would it be to walk to I-Drive? Is there a walkway?

- I believe there is some sort of shuttle to Seaworld/Aquatica. Does anyone have experience with this (frequency, how long does it take etc.)?

I really would appreciate some input as we are trying to make decisions about Transportation.

There is Hertz at the Universal hotels. I would drop the car off right away so you don't have to pay parking fees each night. For drop off, you just leave the car with valet at the entrance to the hotel. It is very easy at RPR.

It is quite a walk from the resorts to I Drive. I would just take a cab if you wanted to go to the outlets or anything.

There is scheduled transportation from the onsite hotels to Wet 'n Wild, SeaWorld and Aquatica. It only runs a couple of times a day, so make sure you get the information and book your seats ahead of time.

Also, if someone has more info on the scheduled transportation to SeaWorld etc. it would be great. Do you need to prebook for that or just show up?

I don't have the schedule for Seaworld Shuttle but you need to book your seats the night before is what I was told.There are only 1-2 dropoff/pick up times for the day..There aren't that many IIRC which is why I think we are going to take a cab this next trip .I rather be able to come and go when I want to.

It's only a couple of miles...depending on where you start...to I Drive but walking in the hot August weather will make it feel a lot further. There are ample sidewalks and crossings for walking but there is a lot of traffic on Universal Blvd at all times of the day and night so keep that in mind.

We took the bus to get there and took a cab home. That worked very well.

Goseethemouse, I suggest you use the streetview feature on googlemaps to determine the walking route from the RPR to I Drive.
