Universal to Drop Hints about Jimmy's Replacement

Today on Screamscape it was mentioned that not only will they announce this new ride, but they are also going to announce a major upgrade to a ride already in the park. My feeling is that it is going to be digital projection on Spiderman. What rides would you like to see upgraded?

I think Spiderman also.

I don't think they would shut down any other rides until the summer is over.

I agree with the CGI and forgot to post about the major upgrade. Got that news yesterday as well from another site. Cannot wait until May 19.

I have a feeling their major upgrade is going to be Spider-Man as well. With Forbidden Journey and the rest of Harry Potter taking the thunder away from the majority of IOA right now this would be the perfect time to take the ride down for reburb. I don't think they will take it down until late August or early September though. It will probably be up and running by the time the holiday crowds hit in December as well... But that's just my best guess I'm not sure how long it will take to install the new advancements.

I SOO hope you are right! From the videos I have watched online about King Kong 360, it would be an amazing addition to the park. Plus, they could do so much more to it than the California version with more space.

That's what I read on Screamscape today and what I'm hoping for.Despicable Me seems guaranteed,Kong not as certain but I'm crossing my fingers.Earthquake was cool and Disaster was a minor upgrade but one of the major reasons I avoid that ride is to not listen to the 5 minute spiel from Christopher Walken in the pre-show.

I think you're right here. That ride isn't that old to begin with. With Spider-Man in it's current state and a lot of the attention at IOA being diverted to Harry Potter now would be the perfect time for them to take down spider man, well not NOW but after summer. I would be estatic if they changed their projections to digital.... ohhh how I would be happy. The old 3D makes my eyes spin!

I don't think you'll ever see any improvements to anything in Marvel Super Hero Island. Here's why...The way I understand the Disney/Marvel contract, Universal can keep what they currently have as long as the attractions are maintained. Any improvements/updates will ultimately have to have Disney's approval and I don't think Disney would agree to a major update to Spiderman. They would love to take the major characters away from Universal but can't...per the contract.

If you're talking about the Marvel attractions, I think eventually they will all be rethemed but that's a LONG way off...IMHO.

Well, since Disaster did just come out not to long ago, maybe your right. I also totally forgot about the marvel/disney thing. So, that got me thinking about what other rides I would be fine with getting replaced and one really sticks out. Twister! While it was "fun" the first time, the space could be used in a much better way. This has always been a show that we skip becuase it is not the greatest special effects show Universal has ever done. It doesn't have that intensity like Backdraft did.

However, I think replacing something inside Twister would be another new ride and they only said they will announce the replacement for Jimmy and an upgrade to a ride. So, as far as upgrades or changes go for current rides, I would love for them to REMOVE the stupid lapbars on Dudley. Those things making getting into and out of that ride a nightmare. I would also like to see them change the ending of popeye to include a DROP and not just a slight downhill drop that it currently has. I am still hoping Universal was able to convince Disney that new projections fall under "maintance" and not "upgrade" part of the contract.
