Hi everyone,

We are going to be in LA for 9 days - my husband is going to be doing some training for his work at iFly at Universal CityWalk for a few hours each day. I figure I'll accompany him most of the days but head to Universal Studios while I am there. So I won't really be doing any full days there.

I've been before so I'm not in a mad rush to do anything there (apart from Super Silly Fun Land and the Minion ride which is new since my last visit) so my pace will be pretty leisurely.

I was just wondering what type of ticket you think would suit me best?

TIA

If you have a Costco membership, I'd say head to a SoCal Costco and buy an annual pass. It's negligibly more expensive than a 1-day ticket, and then you'd be able to go every day (be sure to check the blackout dates though to make sure they don't overlap with your visit).

If no Costco membership, I still say buy an annual pass but on universal's website, print it, and bring it to the park. Only difference is that it's ~$5 more expensive than Costco, and it only lasts until the end of 2014. Costco's lasts for 1-year since the first day of use, but it doesn't look like that's too important for you.

You're right, only lasting until the end of 2014 wouldn't matter. I'd love to think we'd be back within 12months of our visit but unlikely.

I have a Costco membership here in Aus but I doubt it translates.

But like you said $5 isn't much more.

Thank you so much for your assistance.

Based on very briefly comparing the two in the past, it looks like the non-Costco annual pass might have slightly better black-out dates too, so that's kinda a bonus.
Of course, if black-out dates become an issue, you can always just pay their fee to enter the park. Also, don't forget that the annual pass comes with 10% off food purchases (also % off in stores and on city walk)! I completely forgot during my last trip until the cashiers reminded me. ;)

About two months ago, Universal removed in-park discounts for any NEW Costco and Buy a Day passes.

If you want to be eligible for in park discounts, you have to be a Value, No Blackout, or Premium pass holder.

IMO, the best value currently is the Buy a Day, get 2015 free. $92 for an AP that is good until 12/31/15 is a great deal right now.

We went for one premium pass and one value pass.

DH will have the premium pass as he will be using it for parking every day we are in LA.

Off the top your heads, Curious George parking lot is just standard yes?
