Hello!
I am planning a joint Disney/Universal trip next April...does anyone use a travel agent for Universal? We usually do for Disney but I wasn't sure the best route to take for Universal.
Thanks!!!

I usually use AAA Travel for Universal packages. I usually go to Universal first for HHN and then go to Disney. I'm sure that it is probably cheaper to book everything separately but I just find it much easier for me to go through AAA. I would like to hear what other people do.

We use the same travel agent, Magical Journeys, for our upcoming Universal trip(leaving on Friday) that we used to plan all of our WDW vacations. She did the same service for us as she did for our trips at WDW. The agency is considered a "Disney Travel Agency".

imo the packages are far more expensive

Book the room (can do so on AAA website or ask Universal operators if rate is available yet) & buy your admission tickets separately.

I bought several of the 7 day tickets when they were less than $70 a person sometime ago...money in the bank;). U tends to offer direct ticket promos (just not this summer w/HP, likely to see them in the fall after HHN:wizard:), keep your eye out. Make sure not to purchase tickets that expire the end of 2010-there are some out there thru ticketmaster, timeshares, etc. The ticket brokers (believe it was mapleleaf?had a good deal going for awhile) are another option to explore.

Booking non-package components are far less restictive as to cancellations/change in plans, etc. & you only need to pre-pay 1 night to hold your reservation.

FYI, sometimes you will find that buying 1 preferred annual pass (PAP) is worth it to obtain a great rate @ the onsite hotels. Check the Universal site or call for the current hotel rate. Unlike Disney, they rates ebb & flow often. You can always upgrade your ticket to one when you arrive to get the rate.

good luck planning your trip.
