I'm travelling to florida for 3 days in april with my 2 daughters 8 and 2....definetly doing sea world and magic kingdom but not sure wich to pick between univeral studios or disney hollywood studios....any suggestions??:confused3

To me, it depends on which you like better...thrill rides or more of a family type ride. If you like thrill rides, Universal/ IOA may be better. If you want more subtle rides (for the most part), DHS is better. At least this is just my opinion!

I agree with jheigl's analysis 100%. Love Toy Story and Rock n Roller Coaster at DHS however :thumbsup2 But also love the Hulk ride at Universal :thumbsup2

Another thing to note (for the original poster) is when you say Universal Studios, do you mean the studios, islands of adventure or both? Honestly, the studios can be duller than DHS, where IOA can be better, but both together, in my opinion, blow DHS out of the water.

You 2 year old will have almost NOTHING to do at Universal Studios other than the playgrounds (which are nice). If your 8 year old likes thrill rides, then it may be worth the sacrifice?. I would say DHS is a much better compromise. My DD loves Playhouse Disney and Character encounters at DHS. Disney does characters better than Universal IMHO.

Good luck.

I can tell you this, there will be 2-3 rides your 2yo will be able to go on at Universal and none at IOA. At least DHS you can do just about everything. i would go DHS

Hollywood studio for sure. You will have lots of shows and even some good rides even for a 2yo. :woohoo:

My wife & I went to Universal Studios/IOA with our 5, 8 & 10-year-old boys last summer, and we found plenty for little kids to do.

The five-year-old would have gone on the E.T. ride all day if we would have let him.

I was surprised how much we all liked the Toon Lagoon area with Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls (a flume ride with great theming), a playground based on Popeye's ship and the Bilge-Rat Barges (a whitewater ride featuring a comic battle between Popeye and Bluto).

Dr. Seuss Land was very popular with the youngest one. I would avoid the Cat In The Hat ride if getting spun makes you sick. The "If I Ran The Zoo" playground was fun, though. And the there is an elevated trolley train that is nice and sedate.

There was a live Barney show, but I couldn't bring myself to go to that. My wife took the bullet on that one.

And we stumbled across what turned out to be one of our favorite things. Deep behind the Curious George area is two-story building full of sponge rubber balls. It was loud and raucous, but it's shady, and has a lot of moving air to help beat the heat. My boys could have spent hours there. They especially liked trying to shoot me in the ear with the balls.

I am doing both this year. Last year we only went to IOA. I want to see all the parks and do everything possible this year :) I loved the Cat in the Hat ride last year. We rode it 3 times without getting off.

With kids that age, I would go to DHS. I think there is more kid friendly stuff there.

Hmm... lots of pros and cons to each, but a big consideration is that it can be really hard (and darned expensive) to try and do US and IoA in one day, especially with young kids. Whereas HS is much easier to do in a day IMO.
