During my DH and I's Disneyland vacation in July, we are taking one day, Friday, to visit Universal Studios. We have both been to the US in Orlando, and I the Hollywood but it was in 2001 and I don't remember and thing and know much has changed. I have purchased some guides that included itineraries, but would love to hear your experience on what we should do. I noticed there are several definitely "child" attractions there. The trip is just 2 adults so I would love any input. We will be there at opening. Thanks!

The studio tour is a must! I think it's one of the main differences between Orlando and Hollywood

It is also recommended that you go on the attractions at the Lower Lot first, as people tend to work their way from the front of the park to the back.

I haven't been to USH in some time, but it's generally an easier park to cover in a day than the Orlando parks (which aren't too difficult to cover either unless it's a busy day). If you're arriving when the gates open you'll probably get everything you want done.

The general wisdom tends to be heading to The Simpsons Ride first, followed by the trip down to the Lower Lot to ride Revenge of the Mummy and Jurassic Park: The Ride (if you don't mind getting wet). After that it's mostly a matter of filling in attractions like T2:3D and Shrek 4D. There are a few shows that run on a schedule like Waterworld that can be worked in for whatever time works best for you.

From what I gather you can generally do the Studio Tour anytime. It's apparently quite the people-eater with those huge trams.

Again, I've never really been there on a busy day so these strategies might not hold up under more crowded conditions. Still, the general ideas should be fairly sound. Hopefully someone with more recent experiences can provide some additional insight.

HTH :)

With my first visit to Universal studios in the planning , i have organized to go on their vip tours. I have heard these are very good. they include meals fast passes etc. Others may be able to tell you more. Have a great holiday.

In our exp. there is much more for adults than kids a few shows are geared toward kids and we have as yet not road the Simpsons ride so i cant comment on that but like jurrasic park and the Mummy ride are def. for adults we took our then 7 yr old nephew on Jurrasic and he freaked just to real for a child I think LOL, but as others have said the backlot tram tour is a must really fun for a 1rst time visitor.... make sure to get to the shows you want to see Terminator is fun as well as the Waterworld show.. but be forwarned on that one you may and probablly will get wet unless you sit way back we have always sat in front row and it is alot of fun to interact with the characters from the show before it starts.......the animal show was cute also, we always just kinda went with the flow as the only planning I do is for DL and we wing it the rest of the time, Whatever you do have fun cause thats what vacay's are all about, by the way USH is a must every trip for us because it is hubby's favorite park out of all So. Cal.

In case you didn't know there will be the new KING KONG 3D experience on the tram.........it opened this month of June.........I saw it on Youtube......it looks real awesome!!!!
