Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure: 1 or 2 days?!?

We will be in Orlando for 4 days for Disney and are considering 2 days at Universal. We have never been to the Universal parks and have 2 daughters, 7 and 11. For first timers, what you recommend??? We can work in 2 days but if we don't need it, we could save on the tickets.

ANY and ALL advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!

We just returned from Universal/IOA. You could spend a full day in each park with no problem. I guess you could do commando style and fit them both in one day, but my concern is that without FOTL you will be waiting in line for rides which will most definitely eat up some time.
It would also depend on what time of year you are taking your trip. My suggestion is if you are staying off-site, you really should leave yourself two full days.

We just went in Feb. We had 4 1/2 days. We didn't do everything. Some things we did multiple times. We were onsite so we could take our time. I would, AT LEAST recommend 3 days. 1 for each park and a 3rd day to hit your favorites again. There is so much to do, and some you will want to do again and again. If you are not onsite, I would definitely say, at the very least, 2 days. Good luck. Have fun!

It was our first visit to IoA the last time we went and we found a 3 day pass ideal. We ended up spending a day in each park, then went back to IoA for the last day and into Universal on the evening.

The parks are fantastic and should not be missed. IoA is our family's favourite park for thrills, so much so that this year we are buying a 4 park flexpass so we can go any time over our 14 day stay.
