Universal Studios Hollywood done in a day?

i am asking for a friend because I do not know the answer but my friend is going to US the Friday of Memorial Day weekend and wants to know if they can get everything done if they go from open to close and they are staying at the Sheraton Universal (does that mean they get early entry) and they are considering getting the FOL... Is it doable? And would it be necessary to get the FOL?

No early entry by staying at the Sheraton, but they can get early entry by buying their tickets in advance from the USH website.

I think even on a very busy day they should be able to get everything done if they get there early and stay until closing. USH closes at 9pm that Friday and except for maybe Forbidden Journey lines are normally relatively short for the last few hours. Some of the headliner rides (including Forbidden Journey) also have a single rider line which can be utilized instead of buying expensive FOL tickets. Since your friend is staying so close they could spend the morning there until it gets too crowded and then return in the late afternoon/evening after things have quieted down a bit.
