I figured there are plenty of great threads about everything else, but none about the concerts that come and go at the park. The park is home to some really great concerts, both for Mardi Gras and other times of the year. So with all the big concerts that are coming...why not make a thread just for concert announcements both official and unofficial?

Here's the first one:

Big Time Rush (yes from the Nick Show) performing May 14th

If you have any questions about the concerts, feel free to ask them here!:dance3:

Yes. The bigger the name the bigger the crowd. But crowds usually don't start pouring in until about 2-3 hours before show time.

Is there any concert for Memorial Day weekend?

Nothing announced yet. But there wasn't one last year, so...

Nothing on the site on Memorial day so far.It could change tho..

Then again they could have a band at CW.Maybe a local, but don't sell these bands short. We have heard some great music here. Some are better then the Mardi Grars bands,IMO!!

Nothing official as of yet...but it looks as if the Summer concert series may start on June 11th with the go-go's.

Now that would be a good show! :thumbsup2

I'm going to sticky this thread so we can keep the duplicate threads down...hopefully.
;)

True, but i don't think there was not concert in the middle of May either, so I'm kind of wondering or hope so.:goodvibes

Originally we were not going to go to Universal Studios but now that BTR is going to be there when we are going I am trying to figure out what to do. The problem is we want to do WWOHP but I am really afraid it is going to be packed on a Saturday. I also have a 8 yr old and 11 yr old and want to make sure they will be able to see so I wonder how early we would have to get there to get close enough to the stage. I don't want the trip there to be a waste if it's so crowded they can't see the stage. Maybe it would be worth it to go to IOA on a weekday then go to US for the concert. I don't know what to do!

The concerts usually big very large crowds so if you want to be near the stage, you will need to arrive at least 2-3 hours before the concert starts or risk being in the back. However...there are two huge video screens on either side of the stage so you could stand back a ways and still see the concert but only from the screens. BTR will bring a huge crowd but the Studios won't be busy in the morning...just in the afternoon.

This is probably a silly question.... BUT, can we expect the Big Time Rush performance to be a full concert? I tried calling US and they couldn't give me any info on that. My daughter loves them and we will be at Disney from the 13th to the 22nd.... Anybody have any idea? If it isn't a full concert I don't know if it's worth us skipping a day at Disney.

I don't know how long constitutes as a full concert but the concerts I've been to have been around an hour...sometimes a little longer. If you're looking for a two hour concert, I doubt that will happen.

Thanks Metro West! I was just concerned we were going to be facing a lot of hassle to hear one or two songs. Darn kids and their birthdays, looks like we will be there :thumbsup2

I have a question about the location. Where will the show be held and is it shaded or full sun? Don't want to wait 3 hours in full sun for BTR But DS wants to go. Never been to universal. Don't want to buy tickets just to see BTR but will if I have too

The concerts are held at the band shell which is in between Jimmy Neutron and Twister. It's pretty much full sun until late afternoon...there are a few trees but nothing that's going to give you any real shade. The concert starts at 7pm so it will still be light when the concert starts but will be dark by around 8pm or so. I understand your concern about standing in the hot sun all day just to get a place up front so you might want to consider standing over on the side of the main area. You can watch the concert on the big screens but will have no problems hearing or seeing the performers. Plus if you need to run to the restroom or grab something to drink you won't have to fight all those people.

For the Mardi Gras Concert this coming Saturday (30 Seconds to Mars) that starts at 9:30pm, is it around 1 hour? and at what time is the Mardi Gras parade? My son is a big fan of the band and wants to watch them up close so depending on the time of the parade we might end up splitiing up so he can grab a spot and my daughter and I will see the parade. TIA

The parade will be one hour before the concert. It will be so busy you wont be able to move. If he wants to get close to the stage he should line up at least by three. Walk by the music area and you'll see people lining up. Trust me when I say he will want to line up early and six hours for this one is not an exaggeration. If you can't get too close there will be screens and speakers throughout the park. Good luck and may the crowds have mercy on your soles.

The concert will be at least an hour...probably a little longer but if your son wants to see them up close, you will need to get there no later than 4pm. It's standing room only at the band shell and the crowd will start to stake out their spots early. The parade starts around 8:30pm but if you're next to the stage, you can't see it very well. If he waits until the parade starts to get a spot for the concert, he will be a long way from the stage. The place is going to be packed this weekend!
