Universal should have...

huh i didn't here about that
well i think universal would still have rights becasue spongebob is a character and trademark of nickelodean which is part of universal studios

Before anyone needlessly keeps the idea of replacing Mel's with a Spongebob restaurant alive, please keep in mind this is a theme park were talking about. No matter how cool of an idea you think it is, you can't just look past the area's theming for the sake of a cool idea. There's a reason why Disney didn't build Space Mountain in Frontier Land people.

The only place they could put such a thing is across from Nick Studios (or in it, since lord knows they don't use it anymore) or Citywalk.

Yikes...I'm sensing some ruffled feathers around here...it was a suggestion, and a clever one at that. Whether or not the location of Mel's Diner is ideal doesn't matter...people were trying to figure out where there's space for a restaurant and where an improvement could be used. Maybe it wouldn't fit in with Hollywood, and I agree it shouldn't go there in that case, but the general idea is good.

I like the idea, but I would lean toward Citiwalk over retrofitting Mel's Diner. At least one of the gift shops in Citiwalk is already almost totally SpongeBob, so theming is not an issue, and that area definitely could use more family-friendly/quick-service restaurants.

or the Chum Bucket!

I do think it would look silly in Hollywood. Somewhere near Nick Studios would be better. Man, that would be so neat.

I'm hearing so many say they dislike Mel's food but no reasons behind it, can some of you atleast say why you dislike it?

Several people mentioned how expensive Mel's is. Actually Mel's is one of the cheapest places to eat and that is one reason it is so popular. Their hamburgers are cheaper than anywhere else on property.

The reason most people don't like Mel's is because there isn't a lot of meat on the burgers and they are also tend to be dry. Richters has more meat and the hambrgers are not dry but they do cost more there. The hamburgers at Mel's remind me of the hamburgers from the school cafeteria.

You can eat a hamburger with fries and a drink for under $7 at Mel's. For the same thing at most of the other counter service restaurants, it is 1 to 3 dollars more.

The only time I eat at Mel's is when I am short on cash or when I am in a hurry. They are faster and cheaper than Richter's.
