I have cruised with Royal Caribbean twice in the past year and enjoyed both cruises just as much as my Disney Cruise in 2007. I don't think I'd be interested in sailing on the Monarch of the Seas as she is a much older, smaller ship. The Freedom of the Seas would be very nice though. I just wish that the ships sailing out of PC would visit some new and different islands. Watch out Disney, the competition is heating up.

That is fun because I was at the Royal Caribbean website today and saw Universal advertised. I didn't realize it was something new, just thought I had missed it before.

I think this is a great offering. I love competition.

Wow. That sounds great. I wonder what the opening price point will be.

It is certainly worth looking into. I've only ever cruised with Disney so I don't know if I will be disappointed or not, but for half the price..........;)

I think this is a wonderful idea. I'm a new podcast listener and I've been going back and listening to many of the older shows. I recently heard a show where Pete and Walter are talking about spending 5 days at Universal and how much they enjoyed it. With the new Harry Potter area opening soon, this has certainly piqued my interest. Thanks for posting this ADP :goodvibes

We will be visiting Universal in 2-3 years after the Podcast cruise because of the HP attraction. Our plan was to (well my plan) re-book another 4 or 5 nite Disney cruise to take advantage of the discount.
This significantly changes my plans. The Monarch is an older ship..not sure how I feel about that.
Does anyone know if it's been in drydock (when?) for rehab?

Michelle

Monarch of the Seas was rehabed in 2001 and 2003. I didn't realize how old that ship was.

Hey Dreams Unlimited, will you be offering this package??? I REALLY like the FOS with the Universal package. The Freedom is a beautiful ship and it has been YEARS since we've been to Universal - this may be the reason to go!

This is a smart idea. Both Universal and Royal Caribbean are geared more towards older children/teens, so it makes sense for them to partner up this way.

How I wish that I could join Podcast Cruise, that would be fun for sure. :sad2: May you have a great trip.

Have a nice day everyone. :)

I think its a great idea!! I wish RCCL would pick you up from DisneyWorld. Guess that won't be happening but I could wish. I like the Monarch. It was here in Ca for the last few years and I have been on it over 5 times. It's old but you can't beat it for the price. It's great for a short cruise. How is Disney going to keep their price so high with Monarch coming in as a option?
